Struggling with girls names

Bobby1234 · 30/12/2014 17:24

We have decided on Lottie (not Charlotte) or Rosie as a name for our second daughter. Problem number 1 is I can't choose between them. The second issue is middle names some ideas I have are

Lottie Autumn
Lottie Faye

Rosie Esmée (ezmay) after a family member
Rosie Faye
Rosie Autumn
My favourite is Rosie Alice but my OH won't allow :(

Any suggestions are much appreciated our first daughter is called Molly.

Rosie Joan

I prefer Rosie. Very cute but she can call herself Rose if she wants to seem a bit more sophisticated when she's older. I think you should badger your OH to accept Rosie Alice!

Bowlersarm · 30/12/2014 18:55

Rosie Autumn

I think Molly and Lottie are too similar personally.

Have you considered Lucy or Lettie.

Deerhound · 30/12/2014 18:56

Ooh, Rosie Joan is also good!

Bobby1234 · 30/12/2014 19:53

Love Lucy/ Lucie but OH said no. I love the idea of her being able to be called Rose as well as Rosie. Molly is Molly Jean so don't like Joan as it's too simular x

Molly and Lottie is a bit of a tongue twister but they wont be said as a duo for ever I guess...

Out of your options I'd therefore go for Rose Esmee aka as Rosie.

Deerhound · 30/12/2014 20:11

Rosie Elinor
Rosie May
Rosie Eloise
Rosie Isobelle
Rosie Alicia

Bobby1234 · 30/12/2014 20:28

I like isobelle but don't want her initials to be RIP :(

She will be Rosie OH chose it. I have a niece that has Rose in her name.

I love Rosie Esmée but couldn't quite decide if it went.

i think Rose goes better - then it is Rose E (Surname) and then it sounds like Rosie? iyswim?

Bobby1234 · 30/12/2014 20:40

I would rather change middle names over Rosie for Rose x

OP posts:
myotherusernameisbetter · 30/12/2014 20:46

I think it's the clash of the ie and the E that makes it slightly awkward but it could work fine as long as the surname wasn't similar i.e. Rosie Esmee Edwards is a mouthfull but Rosie Esmee Smith sounds fine :) or what about Rosie May instead?

Bobby1234 · 30/12/2014 20:47

No surname doesn't clash. I like May or Mae x

OP posts:
Bobby1234 · 31/12/2014 11:06

Is May not overly used like Rose?

OP posts:
Deerhound · 31/12/2014 12:01

I much prefer May to Mae, but think that Rosie Esmee is also fine so long as your surname doesn't start with E or end in ie/y.

Personally I like middle names chosen for their meaning rather than just how they sound.. Hardly anyone (other than maybe her mum!) will call her by both names anyway.

myotherusernameisbetter · 31/12/2014 12:07

Yes, May is used a lot as far as I can see for middle names, as is Rose, but then you have chosen very popular names in Molly and Rosie (though Jean whilst very straighforward is not used a lot at the moment) so i didn't think that was a concern for you?

Rtfairy · 31/12/2014 14:23

I love Rosie, shame you can't use Rosie Alice. How about Rosie Charlotte?

RL20 · 31/12/2014 15:14

Lottie Faye has a nice ring to it! And I've not heard them names together before, so I like that. I can't really comment on Rosie as I'm personally not a fan. But that's probably because my name is Rose and for years when I was younger, and still now, people have mistook it and call me Rosie. Or I get asked what it's short for, like am I a Rosemary, or the old "hilarious" favourite- rosebush. Although I do like the spelling "Rosey" and I also like Rosalie. Also think about if you like the name Rose as it would more than likely be shortened to that. X

Bobby1234 · 31/12/2014 17:18

I have a random dislike of the name Charlotte, nice enough name but I don't like it. I know Rosie and Molly are popular although not overly, but most girls seem to have May or Rose as a middle names so I would like something a bit different.

I think Rosie Esmee is lovely.

Alternatively:
Rosie Elise
Rosie Samantha
Rosie Elina
Rosie Faith
Rosie Cecille
