What do you think about the name Lola? I quite like it but something is holding me back...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Some celeb or other called their daughter Lolita, truly the creepiest of names anyone could give a child really.

florascotia · 29/11/2014 17:18

Lolita = Little Lola. It's another nickname for Dolores.
Am not very keen on Lola (or Dolores), but they're perfectly OK names.

However, as Squoosh says - Lolita really still is too tainted to use, even ironically/defiantly. Maybe, at some time in future, it can be 'reclaimed' from the novel... but, speaking personally, I wouldn't bother.

it's my cat's name

If she'd been born in 1923 and had a career as an inspiringly bold artist, fabulous! If you're not planning on giving birth to a 90-something grand Dame who still likes a bit of pipe smoking and has oilpaint under her fingernails, then no.
