If we liked Jemima...

Dd is Jemima. We are now expecting dc2 and I'm struggling with girls' names. (We struggled last time too but she came out holding a sign!)

We don't have millions of Jemimas in our neck of the woods, and when people ask what dd is called we've always had really positive responses, like it was a name they'd forgotten about but are pleased to be reminded of.

I like Florence but she'd be one of several in her class as far as I can see.

Quite like Felicity. Also Cecily, maybe...

If you are worried about Florence being too popular, I'd avoid Matilda too.

Celia
Georgina
Jacinth

Jennys2108 · 17/11/2014 19:35

Suzannah or nancy. Or Nell

westsussexmummy · 17/11/2014 20:57

How about Ottilie (Tilly / Ottie for short) - a bit of a mixture between the suggestions Olive and Cecily? I also like Tabitha and Kitty...

westsussexmummy · 17/11/2014 20:59

I'd totally forgotten Cecily Parsley!! Loved those rhymes when I was little :)

I love Jemima and Marianne too.
Was going to suggest Verity or Rosalie.

Riverland · 17/11/2014 23:59

Unfortunately, nn for Miriam is mims or mimsy!

Elinor, then, pas!

Riverland · 17/11/2014 23:59

Or Marianne Elinor!

Sophronia · 18/11/2014 01:16

Nicknames for Miriam could be Miri, Mirrie, Mira, Mim, Mimi, maybe Mitzi / Mitzy.

Riverland · 18/11/2014 01:46

Mitzy is a nn for Miriam, is it? I never knew that. Have known a few Miriam's, always nn 'mims'.

Actually Maisie is a lovely name too, and suitably literary!

TsukuruTazaki · 18/11/2014 01:53

Cecily was the first one I thought of to go with Jemima before I opened thread!
