Hi all

We are expecting DC2 and don't know whether we are having a girl or a boy. We "used" our favorite girl's name with DD1 (Eden) so struggling with possible girls name.

I love the name Bea but feel that we are not a "Beatrice" or "Beatrix" kind of family.

Are there any other full names which can legitimately be shortened to Bea or dare I commit the cardinal sin of giving a child a nickname as a full name?

I know a Bianca and a Bella who are both Bee (rather than Bea)

I'm with theonly and diving - if you liked it before, ignore them and go with the name you like. I was guilty of a (hidden) raised eyebrow when friends called their son Fox but in no time it was just his name, it totally suits him and I can't imagine him being anything else. Also Beatice is gorgeous Grin

I think you should use Beatrice if you like it. It's pretty but not silly and it will suit all ages.
We have chosen our names and we are telling no-one. People have opinions on everything in pregnancy and they hijack everything. So I'd recommend not to bring it up unless you trust the person to be balanced about it.

What about Bibi?

I went to uni with a Bronwen/Bronwyn (not sure how she spelt it) she was known pretty much only as Bea though (pronounced Bee). She was super cool and I've always loved that name since meeting her.
