I prefer the Welsh spelling Trefor which takes some of the mustiness out.

AmITwirly · 14/11/2014 10:58

My son has a child called Trev / Trevor in his class.

I must admit I did smirk a bit at first, but now it's grown on me. Turns out it's short for Trevelyan although no-one calls him that.

LouiseBrooks · 14/11/2014 11:35

Trevor? Never. It's a middle aged man's name.

SquirrelledAway · 14/11/2014 12:06

Got no right to make a clot
Out of Trevor

Enough said.

Choccyhobnob · 14/11/2014 12:21

My 65 year old FILs name and DH's middle name (which he hates so much he refused to have read out at our wedding!)

Lunastarfish · 14/11/2014 15:01

I love love love Trevor but DP said no. However he did say I can have Doug if baby is a boy. Please have Trevor!

MsMittens · 14/11/2014 15:03

I am not the biggest fan of Trevor. Mostly because I have known and disliked two Trevors. Prefer James nn Jimmy.

Mouthfulofquiz · 14/11/2014 19:34

Ahhhh Baby Doug! I love that.
Baby boys do turn into actual men eventually and I for one would rather be called Trevor or Gordon than something like Alfie / Archie. (Because they are rarely Alfreds and Archibalds are they?)

BellaBearisWideAwake · 14/11/2014 19:37

I like Trefor rather than Trevor. Trevor always makes me think of Trevor and Simon. Was that Saturday morning telly? I can picture them.

Bowlersarm · 14/11/2014 19:40

I love Jimmy.

I have (serious) baby name regret. We should have called a DS James nn Jimmy. I love love love it.

BitterHoneyGreenNight · 14/11/2014 19:44

Trevor? God please don't. I know 3 and they are all over 50. It's not retro or cool- it's just awful.

Jimmy as a shortening of James isn't bad. Not on its own though.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 14/11/2014 20:06

Go with James, not jimmy. And for the love of god, not Trevor!

CynthiaDelgado · 14/11/2014 20:09

I know a toddler Trevor. Don't do it.

callamia · 14/11/2014 20:11

Are you welsh? Would Trefor work?

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/11/2014 20:11

Trevor is married to Maureen and they always have their dinner at 5pm on the dot.

How about Travis as a similar but slightly cooler sounding name?

I like Jimmy though.

MrsBungle · 14/11/2014 20:11

God no.

ShadowKat · 14/11/2014 20:14

I don't think that the time has come for a Trevor revival yet.

I think in 20 years time, maybe, but not now.

James (nicknamed Jimmy), now, that's a timeless classic. You can't go wrong with that.

RiverTam · 14/11/2014 20:14

not keen on Trevor. I do like Jason though, which was around at the same time.

Jimmy always sounds a bit scouse wideboy to me Grin.

Seriously, I think it's fine.

If you like the sound of it, rather than any negative connotations, then it's fine.

canweseethebunnies · 17/11/2014 12:26

The thought of a baby called Trevor or Keith literally makes me lol! (No offence to anyone with these names)

However, I'm sure they'll be the next big trend and you'll just be ahead of the game, so if you like it, go for it!

Riverland · 17/11/2014 12:33

It's actually a nice name. Idk why we all have such negative associations with it.

I would far far far far rather be called Trev than Oscar or Oliver or Arthur.

It's more masculine. Sounds Welsh, and Cornish.

CornChips · 17/11/2014 12:42

If you like the 'v' sound, what about Ivor?

JulyKit · 17/11/2014 12:47

Trevor
Derek
Brian
Graham
Alan
Howard

  • they'll be next year's names.
Alfie, Soloman, Ivo, etc. - Over. Done. Bring on Barry n Colin!
Whooshtheyweregone · 17/11/2014 12:51

I like it, mainly due to there being an adorable little boy called Trevor in DS's class. In the same class there is also a Jimmy, Jeffrey, Stanley and Ronnie GrinGrin
