So I'm totally stuck for boys names, but have a few ideas now for girls. What do you lovely people think? Surname is 2 syllables starting with T. Middle name will be Maria:

Amelie
Marrisa
Helena
Cassia
Heidi
Chloe
Lauren
Ilsa
Natalie
Etta
Natasha

Amelie - pretty but a bit over-done
Marrisa - prefer Marisa (mar-EE-sa)
Helena - lovely
Cassia - pretty
Heidi - pretty but hard to take seriously if she wanted a serious career?
Chloe - Cute
Lauren - def due for a resurgence - great name
Ilsa - too close to Frozen
Natalie - same as Lauren
Etta- not sure
Natasha - lovely, strong, elegant.

Amelie too much with maria
Marrisa actually quite charming when combined with Maria. My vote.
Helena classic.
Cassia ehm
Heidi underused and great
Chloe mneh
Lauren nice with maria
Ilsa nice
Natalie mneh
Etta not with maria
Natasha mneh

Thanks guys. Not 100% set on Maria for middle name if it limits choice of first name. Want to get the first name right most importantly. Actually wanted Maria for the first name but OH hates it.

Like all of them except Etta. Love Marrisa the most but not sure it works with the middle name Maria

missdonsol · 24/10/2014 11:37

Thanks hlc, another option for a middle name is Grace which might work with Marrisa

Etta Grace is lovely

Riverland · 24/10/2014 11:41

Lauren Grace

...except...she might get called lolly, for short. So my vote goes for

Amelie Grace.

missdonsol · 24/10/2014 12:06

Ooh yes Etta Grace and Amelie Grace both sound nice.

Not thought of Lauren being called Lolly... not sure I'd like that!

Amelie - pretty but very popular at the moment (lots of people using it as alternative to Amelia/Emily I think)
Marrisa - prefer Marissa, but it's a bit American-sounding for me
Helena - gorgeous - very classic and elegant but not overused
Cassia - pretty and unusual
Heidi - cute, but not sure it ages well
Chloe - meh - has been mega popular for too long
Lauren - getting a bit dated - sounds very '90s/early '00s to me
Ilsa - not keen
Natalie - sounds 'tired' and dated - needs a rest I think!
Etta - lovely
Natasha - never been a fan, and I hate most of the nicknames (Tash/Tasha/Nat)

My picks would be Cassia, Helena or Etta.

fishfingerSarnies · 24/10/2014 13:34

I like Etta, Cassia and Heidi

I love Amelie but too popular for me.

missdonsol · 24/10/2014 14:07

Thanks everyone. So far I think I can rule out Amelie, didn't realise that was so popular at the moment.

Amelie - ruled out
Marrisa - doesn't go with Maria but would be fine with Grace
Helena - classic and elegant but a bit dull
Cassia - Cassie is much nicer
Heidi - a bit twee
Chloe - I don't like it personally but it is a nice name IYSWIM
Lauren - I do like it but it is very popular round here
Ilsa - no, sounds too much like Elsa, which as well as the Frozen thing is an old lady name sounding and I don't like those
Natalie - yes
Etta - no, again too old fashioned sounding
Natasha - if you are happy with Tash or Tasha as a NN

missdonsol · 24/10/2014 14:22

Thanks for all your thoughts. How annoying is that frozen thing! Love the film but annoying that it's made Elsa/ Ilsa too popular! It's my OHs favourite girls name because of the film Casablanca. I wasn't too sure at first but I think it's growing on me. Not if it's going to sound faddy though.

Marissa Grace or Cassia Grace

ashesandfire · 26/10/2014 09:07

Amelie - it's pretty but I'm a bit over it tbh.
Marrisa - not with Maria. It's OK but just makes me think of The OC! Blush
Helena - pretty but never quite sure how to pn. Hel-AY-na or HEL-ena?
Cassia - love love this
Heidi - yuck.
Chloe - quite pretty but very popular again
Lauren - meh.
Ilsa - meh.
Natalie - I really like it actually. I feel Natalie is due a revival!
Etta - love it
Natasha - meh. Bit dated. And nn Tash is horrible.

Cassia or Etta are the stand out ones for me. Cassia Maria or Cassia Grace or Etta Grace

BlueStarsAtNight · 26/10/2014 20:17

Amelie - rules out (and I don't like it)
Marrisa - knew a horrible one so I don't like it, awful with Maria.
Helena - I like it if it's Hel-en-a rather than Hel-ay-na
Cassia - ok
Heidi - really like
Chloe - bit dated now
Lauren - not a fan
Ilsa - like it but prefer Elsa (don't care about the Frozen link!)
Natalie - quite like
Etta - sounds like a nickname. Don't think it would go with a T surname
Natasha - don't really like
