Italian triplet girl names

CarinaFurnari · 05/10/2014 11:33

So a couple of weeks ago my husband and I found out that our triplets are all girls, and we couldn't be more excited!
But we both really want to name our children with italian names because I am italian and he is half italian.
However our families are very big and we don't really want to give them the same names as someone in our close family (parents, sibling, aunties, uncles and cousins) so we need some suggestions. Thank you!

Do you need names that will work in English too (i.e. That people understand /can spell?)

If so what about:
Elena
Chiara
Serena
Francesca
Clementina
Laura
Giulia

What type of names do you like and dislike?
Names in the South of Italy are usually quite different from those used in the north, aren't they?
Are you thinking of traditional names or something a little more modern?
Would you like each name to begin with the same letter ,or not?

I love the name Valentina.

What do you think about Italian place names? I'm thinking Florence, Roma and Emilia?

daholster, Andrea is a male Italian name.

Agree we need more info from op. Northern or Southern Italy, modern or traditional?

Italian women I know:
Maria
Sabrina
Rafaella
Daniela
Angelina
Stefania
Laura
Chiara (note not easy for pronunciation as it's pronounced Kee-ara)
Elena
Sofia
Lavinia
Alessandra

Oriunda that's very intersting, I know a female Italian Andrea (obviously I'm not at all Italian but I LOVE Italian names and would call a boy Firenze - Very tacky perhaps to some?... But wonderful to me - if my dh would have it! He won't, I asked...)

Maybe they went for an Anglicised name which sounds to my un-Italian ears as Italian with the beautiful accent saying it? [happy]

Congrats on 3 at once. I would think of names which you can shorten fairly easily as shouting out blah, blah and blah is much easier than blahdiblahdi, blahdiblahdah and blahdiblahdillydo. (I have twins and they require 1 syllable nn's!).
