Just coming back to this thread to tell you how much I adore laurel. Smile

There's a poem by WB Yeats, 'A Prayer for my Daughter', where the motif of the laurel tree appears.

I think this may be 'the' name then.
Siblings are Carissa, Daisy and Simon - I think it fits.

Yeah it fits - I love it. I love nature names - Fern, Rowan, Hazel, it's simple, classic and pretty.

Hurrah! Flowers

HumblePieMonster · 26/09/2014 11:25

Laurel.

For once on mn, a name that isn't silly, pretentious, embarrassing or nauseating. And not chavvy.

Well done, that mum!

whatever you do, don't call the child lorelei.

WittyUsername102 · 26/09/2014 17:47

HumblePieMonster - Haha, you made me actually laugh out loud! :)

It's my DSis's name. I like it. She does too.

She regularly gets called Laura, though, when she is introduced to people. No name teasing, except in relation to my name (also a plant name).

And we never got things with our names on because Laurel is impossible to find. Even now I look for her name when we find named things. Grin
