Really like the name Austin but never met any in RL!

Just wondering what general opinions are?

I know an Austin - he's 6, lovely chatty boy.

I think it's a great name!

I know a 40 year old Austin in the UK, never come across any others. It's one of those names that are pretty normal, timeless but aren't overly popular.

I know of an Austin. His mother is an awful Hyacinth Bucket of a woman not really my cup of tea and calls him Awwww-stin. It has put me off the name as a result.

VainVulva · 22/09/2014 19:24

Never met one but I think it's a great name!

wigglesrock · 22/09/2014 19:31

I know one in london, great kid and name. I don't think of it as American.

hatsybatsy · 23/09/2014 14:47

I know one - he's a nice kid and the name suits him. It's unusual while remaining a solid boys' name IMO. not at all American.

myotherusernameisbetter · 23/09/2014 15:03

I'm married to one and my son's friend (age 13) is one.

It's not american, it's my OHs mothers maiden name.

he didn't like it when he was young but now likes the fact that if someone shouts it in a pub they usually mean him. :)

They always spell it wrong when they write it on his cup in coffee shops - he either gets Oscar or Aspen Confused

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 23/09/2014 19:24

I know two, aged 3 and 9. Both lovely boys so in my head its a lovely name :)

myotherusernameisbetter · 23/09/2014 19:52

wiggles as far as I understand it is an Irish surname so hence being more popular in Ireland and Scotland too.

MehsMum · 23/09/2014 19:56

I liked it as a name, but I went right off it when I encountered a family whose children's names were makes of vehicle: Mercedes, Bentley, etc.

I kid you not. The mother used to shout at them so there was no missing it.

yetanotheruserchangingname · 23/09/2014 20:25

I know 2 one is about 5 now and the other 17. Both nice enough boys. Name doesnt make me go eww :)
