Our beautiful baby girl was born yesterday, we had pretty much sorted a boys name but girls names we have found so much harder!

DH and DS both have names beginning with B and our surname starts with a B too, their names work really well with this combination.

We both really like Beatrice but we don't know if it's too matchy for the DC to have first names with the same letter, also her middle name would likely to be Anne (my mother's middle name as DM has passed away, her name was Jacqueline but don't want the initials B J!) so the children would have the exact same initials, is this too much or am I over thinking? Evelyn is also a possible middle name.

As it stands this is our final list, opinions please:

Beatrice Anne
Beatrice Evelyn
Alice Jacqueline
Matilda Jacqueline

What are your thoughts?

Love Matilda. Beatrice just reminds me of that big toothed Royal, sorry Blush I'd probably use Matilda Anne/Jacqueline.

Congratulations by the way Flowers

Beatrice and Matilda are both lovely names.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 16/09/2014 13:00

I really love Beatrice. Mine are late teens/20's but would have been Beatrice if girls.
But sadly I have to say no to the matchy matchy initials. It can cause so many problems when older, believe me.

Gemerama82 · 16/09/2014 18:52

I love Alice Jacqueline or how about Alice Evelyn?

ashesandfire · 16/09/2014 19:21

I really love Alice Jacqueline.
I don't like Beatrice much personally. Never 100% sure how to pronounce it, it always ends up sounding like beer-triss to me which I don't think is a nice sound!

thatsn0tmyname · 16/09/2014 19:25

Alice Evelyn. Congrats to you.

MrsLettuce · 16/09/2014 19:34

Beatrice Evelyn Anne would avoid the same initials thing, which could be a nightmare in practicality. Just Evelyn Anne would be lovely too.

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/09/2014 19:35

I like Alice best congrats

MrsLettuce · 16/09/2014 19:42

Of all the names I like Evelyn best, Beatrice is great though.

Mintyy · 16/09/2014 19:46

Congratulations on your lovely baby girl!!

Alice is a name that I just don't like, which is totally irrational I know, and we have loads of them in our social circle Sad.

I prefer Beatrice to Matilda.

I'm going to say Beatrice Anne as Beatrice Evelyn seems a wee bit unwieldy.

meringue33 · 16/09/2014 21:42

They are all beautiful
Congratulations

SwedishEdith · 16/09/2014 21:53

I actually really like Jacqueline

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2014 22:30

I like Alice Jacqueline or Matilda Jacqueline.

Not too fond of Beatrice, tbh, nor the matchy initials.

Congratulations btw.

Sophronia · 16/09/2014 23:04

I like Beatrice Anne and Alice Jacqueline.

BabylonPoo · 16/09/2014 23:21

Definitely Alice.

ZenNudist · 16/09/2014 23:23

Beatrice Anne works. The rest are a mouthful

cece · 16/09/2014 23:24

I like the sound of Alice Anne.

dreamingofwineandcheese · 17/09/2014 02:30

Thanks very much for your replies.

After a day of going back and forth we decided on Matilda Jacqueline and now we have chosen it it seems to really suit her and has gone down well with family and friends.

We didn't want to use Evelyn as a first name as we have friends with a little one called that who we see a lot of and it as it's not that popular I thought it didn't feel right. It is my lovely Grandmothers name though so I love it! Also a friend has an Alice which put me off that too in the end!

We then decided that having another B name sounded too matchy so there we are!!
