I need a second girl's middle name!

This should be much easier than it is but somehow I can't find a second girl's middle name for our 2nd baby (due in 7 weeks). I really want two middle names as dd has two as do dh and his siblings.

The rest of the name is Sophie Caroline xxxxx Sellby (it's not Sellby but sounds similar)

I have some fairly specific rules for this name:

  • Can't end in an ee sound like Sophie or the whole name sounds too rhymey.
  • I don't think it should be more than 2 syllables really or the whole name just seems too long. I might consider 3 if it worked otherwise though.
  • I prefer classic, 'normal' sort of names

Family names I'd like to use but they don't fit the rules:
Jessie
Isabella

I know I'm being really fussy! But if anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful.

Isabelle?

PepperMallow · 16/09/2014 13:17

I also thought Isabelle. Jessica could also work.

Maria

Joy
Jane
Amy
Bella(shortened version of Isabella)
Emma
Harriet (maybe too many syllables?)
Leah
Maria
Rose
Joy
Grace

I think Isabella works if you switch the order

Sophie Isabella Caroline Sellby

Thanks all

I thought about Isabelle but it really doesn't flow with our surname, with the two 'ell' sounds next to each other (I said I was fussy!). Other than that I really like the name.

Jessica is a possibility but I'm afraid I don't like it all that much.

I really like Rose, and it fits really well with the other names, the only thing is, is it becoming the default middle name at the moment, like May used to be? Not that that's necessarily a reason not to use it.

I also like Grace and Joy (and along a similar line Faith). Not sure dh likes them though. I like the idea of having some reason for a name, so either family, which doesn't seem to work, or one with a nice meaning like Grace. Caroline is a family name as are both of dd1's middle names, so we are running out!

TravellingToad - hmm - that is a possibility, and the name does flow nicely like that. The only thing is, and the reason we had Caroline first, is that Caroline is dh's mother's name so her name is Caroline Sellby. So the name would end with her name, if you see what I mean. Do you think that would be a problem/would people notice that? I'm sorry I'm so fussy! It's a definite possibility though as it allows me to use a name I wanted.

Some of these are probably not classic enough for you:

Alice
Anne
Mia
Blythe
Fleur
Tessa
Ruth
Maeve
Beatrice
Bridget
Eden
Hannah

I don't think switching Caroline to the third mn (ie with the result that the last two names = MIL's name) would matter at all. Nobody ever uses just their last two names iyswim.
