Amelia or Clara?

I've loved the name Amelia FOREVER, but now that I'm finally expecting a baby girl the popularity aspect bothers me. I also love Clara, but don't want to feel that I'm going for my second favourite name (especially as I don't actually know ANY Amelia's in RL!)

Which do you prefer and why?

Love Clara.

What does Amelia mean in medical terms? ? [Sidetracked]

Clara

I prefer the simplicity of Emily.

Amelia was very popular about ten years ago. Less so now I think. But Emily's usage less particular to certain years. (Maybe?)

Loads and loads of Amelia, Emilia, Amelie... at my kids's school, not one Clara. I like it.

Prefer Clara. I know of quite a few people in recent years calling there daughters Amelia. I know only one (adult) Clara.

Both are lovely names thoughSmile

Please don't choose Clara. I have a gorgeous 7 year old Clara & I dread her name getting popular. I had chosen Isabella & Emilia as names for my future daughter back in the 80's so wasn't very happy that they were so popular by the time I actually had a baby!

Now Housewife, how is telling op about your Clara going to deter her? Grin

I really like Clara. The only one I know is an incredibly glam Spanish woman in her late 20's. Speaks about 4 languages, beautiful, one of those all round over achievers!

F0ssil · 05/09/2014 23:30

I agree, she'd be the same whether she were called Clara or Edna

Failure to read housewife's post properly.
