Frank with an F surname?

Hi, I have recently fallen in love with the name Frank (for a boy). Haven't actually raised this with my DP yet! (I'm only 10 weeks pregnant so he's not ready for name discussions yet). But, my DP's surname starts with F - and also has a k in it (same name as writer William F....ner). What do you think, 'Frank F...ner' does sound a bit clunky doesn't it? I think 'Frankie F....ner' sounds good, but he (if it is a boy) is probably not going to want to be called Frankie all his life. If you don't think it sounds good, any ideas for names similar to Frank?

Ds2 has an alliterative name - I was unsure about that aspect of it, but we loved the name so much we went with it and I am so glad we did

I love it! I have a little Frank (short for Franklin), we've had plenty of positive comments on it. If you don't go for it, other names we considered were Vincent, Victor, tobias, Calvin (I loved this, he would have been a little Vinnie!)

I generally really like alliterative names, and if the surname was something like Fletcher I wouldn't be worried, it's just the double F and double K sound together I am slightly concerned about, maybe too much of a mouthful? I will keep on saying it in my head and see if it gets better!

I just like the name Frank more and more, the more I think about it - wonder why it isn't more popular? Not really so different from more popular ones like Tom, Freddie, Alfie etc.

I love it! I really like the name Frank anyway (vetoed by DH due to Frank Lampard!) and I also think alliterative names can work really well (never understand the blanket "alliterative names don't work"). I say get it on your short list!!

DS has alliterative names, when we use his nickname, so he's T..T.. we were worried it was a bit gimicky but actually its quite cool. He sounds like a jazz musician :)

I considered Frank, and we have a surname virtually identical to one of the ones mentioned further up the thread. Decided against it purely as DS also has FF initials, and I thought it might sound a bit cartoon-y to have two FF boys. I think it works!

I LOVE his name and get lots of positive comments. I love that it's not very common but is solid and traditional. We also liked Freddie but as our surname ends in *stone I was worried about Flintstone jokes

How about Frank Fr YourSurname, with Fr being a middle name. There's no reason your baby should automatically have your DP's surname.

Thanks again for all the comments! Terrier I am thinking about suggesting my surname for this baby - not just (not even mainly) because of the Frank F thing. We already have a DD who has DP's surname, so seems fair to have one with each, though not sure how I feel about the children having different surnames.
