Emilio for a baby boy?

Hello,

DH is Spanish and we both like the name Emilio. What do you think though?
Is it a nice, unique name for the UK or will our little one be bullied with so many Emily's around?

Thank you

I like that...I can't see him being bullied. He'll be a little boy...kids just accept names in my experience

Thank you, that's helpful to know, as we love the name

Gorgeous name! I love it.

Not a fan, sorry. I can't help thinking Emily when I see it.

I've known several Emilios, all of Med. heritage. Not a problem (though you might want to reconsider if he's born pale and ginger!)

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2014 23:37

Very nice name.

My nephew is an Emilio, not aware that he has any problems.

In the family we also have: Leandro, Valentino (more Italian), Fernando, Nicolas,

Great name, as long as his surname is Spanish too (which I'm assuming it will be as your DH is Spanish). I've heard of a man in Belfast whose name is Julio McFadden (his mother must have been a fan of Julio Iglesias!) and that kind of combination should be avoided at all costs, I think!

zingally · 29/08/2014 13:18

If he has a parent of Spanish origin, which you say he does, then go for it!

I've encountered all sorts of names in my teaching career, and children are completely accepting of any name, however daft they might seem to adults, and Emilio is a lovely, unique name in this country.

Thank you everyone, yes DH is Spanish and little one will have a Spanish surname...

Emilio is awesome.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/09/2014 12:20

I like it

Montsti · 02/09/2014 14:24

I really like it! I would only use it if there was a Spanish connection so in your case yes I certainly would!

minniemaus · 02/09/2014 21:51

Emilio is great!

lucyclaudeclaude · 02/09/2014 22:04

Love it but it doesn't shorten easily for a boy (my niece is Em (ily).
