Meaning of Shaoni?

I'm thinking of using the name of an Indian friend for my daughter. The name is Shaoni. I want to know more about what it means but I don't want to ask my friend in case I decide not to use it. When I search online I can't find any info about it, but there are plenty of results for people called Shaoni so it's not that unusual. Does anyone know what it means or where it comes from?

Have you got the spelling right? I can't find anything on it and there is nobody called that listed in the US tax records which would indicate it's made up or a changed spelling of a more traditional Indian name.

But I think you need to ask someone with connections to that region what the name means. Appears to be used by men and women. Could you not just have a general sort of dicussion about names and meanings with your friend? It's a very natural sort of topic for anyone pregnant /with new baby to be talking about.
