Emily or Evelyn ?

We are keen on Emily (also like Ellen but niece with very similar name so not going for it)

Would Evelyn be a better option due to the popularity of Emily?

Emily.

Emily is more classic whereas Evelyn's only recently made a comeback. I think Evelyn will be eventually seen as dated.

Emily! I don't know any babu Emily but loads of Evie's.

Evelyn has prn issues too and sounds rather manly (Waugh). Would you say Ehv or eve?

I prefer Emily out of the two names.

I know two: one pronounces it EVE(as in evening) lyn
and the other says EV (as in ever)lyn

They are both women and I would always think of it as a very feminine name

Evelyn sounds a bit like it could also be a boy's name to me.

Emily it's classic and pretty.

Evelyn was my incredibly boring great aunt.

It's my very very least favourite old lady name ever.

Agree though in its favour jane is not currently widely used. Emily is up there in the dullness stakes though. Amelia and lily creep in too
