What do you think of Faye? It has come up as a strong contender from DH for DC1 due in Nov so I am umming and ahhing about it.

Middle name will be Joanne, surname is 3 syllables starting with McF.

Thanks!

Sorry!...

Oh don't creep away - very vivid description Grin, that's all.

(saw rescued baby koala yesterday on tv - very attached to his teddy bear and blanket...soooooooo cute, I want one)

There was a Faye on Grange Hill I think who was very popular. Still would not go for it though.

I have to admit some of the descriptions have made me laugh this morning Grin! It is definitely a name which gets different responses, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I know what you mean about it being quite a quiet name. Despite that, after debates over the last few days we have decided it remains on our list as a strong contender Smile.

Oh, thank you for that picture, he is just adorable. His little mug!

I called my daughter Faye! Love it, although the Fay spelling looks wrong to me. It is a serene, graceful name. Also it can't be shortened which means there's no temptation to call her a shortened version due to laziness. Havent' regretted choosing this name. Go for it!

squoosh · 25/08/2014 17:07

Very wishy-washy name to my ears. Also very 1980's.

florascotia · 25/08/2014 17:46

I once met a Fay who was far from wishy-washy - tall, dark hair, bright red lipstick, decided manner ....

Names are what you make them, surely, rather than the other way around?

squoosh · 25/08/2014 18:14

Perhaps, although there are some lovely people I know whose names I have never grown to like.

florascotia · 25/08/2014 18:25

Squoosh, you are quite right, of course, but am sure you know what I mean.

There are some names that we don't like, for all kinds of reasons, some rational, some definitely not.

There are also names that we associate with people we have met/places we have known etc etc, favourably or otherwise.

But I think that most names - apart from ones like 'Rufus' which have such a strong appearance meaning - are pretty neutral in themselves. It's what we bring to them that matters.

Gemerama82 · 26/08/2014 10:46

Faye is a lovely simple and pretty name and I think it sounds great with a McF surname. Also like Freya, Faith and Fearne as suggested by others.

crazylady321 · 26/08/2014 11:20

I like it :)

barrackobana · 26/08/2014 11:29

Grin@ Koala. What on earth happened to her eyelashes? [GRIN]

zingally · 29/08/2014 13:23

I like it... But Faye McF... is quite a mouthful and a bit twee.
