I don't like any boys names!

Expecting DC2 in December, so plenty of time to stress think about it, but I'm completely drawing a blank with boys names.

We've given ourselves some difficult 'rules', and I really need some inspiration for boys names.

Here's the rules:

  1. All of us have names with A as the second letter (not on purpose), so we'd quite like to continue that so this baby isn't left out
  1. We want to avoid D and H as the first initial - our nephews have these initials and DD is Darcey, so we'd like to avoid the ILs having two sets of grandchildren with the same initials
  1. Has to go with our very unusual surname that sounds along the lines of Simmons
  1. DH would rather avoid top 50 names, but this isn't a deal breaker as our surname is so identifiable

On our girls list are Maggie and Martha, and Gabriella is on and off. So far, the only boys name I like that fits our criteria is Jack. Possibly Sam, although I'm not sure about alliterative names.

Other names I like, but have been vetoed or used by friends and family include:
Jasper (DH won't even consider it because it's slang for wasp, although I've never heard of it)
Tate
Gabriel (my favourite, but I just can't call a Christmas baby that)
Rory
Elliot
Toby
Leo
Henry

So, anyone up for a challenge? I would really appreciate some help.

Oh please use Gabriel! I read through all of your criteria, thinking Gabriel would be perfect then saw you'd discounted it. It's my favourite name too but we already have one in the family, so it's off limits. Elliot is lovely too and I like Jasper too (I'm not allowed it on my list either...).

How about Caspar? Patrick? I like Arthur too, but it is just in the top 50 now and doesn't have A as a 2nd letter.

Xander and Casper have both been discussed and discounted at some point, but I do like them both!

We also had Hamish until we remembered it starts with an H.

We also liked Margot, medi, but then we'd have two DD's with ballerina names Smile

Love the variety in these, keep them coming please!

Patrick.
Margot, Darcey and Patrick. Lovely.

Medibeagle · 18/08/2014 15:23

I wouldn't let that put you off! Grin

Although maybe Carl, Jarvis and Martin don't go with Darcey as they are repeating the 'ar' sound.

You can also just go on the website names.darkgreener.com and type Ba (for example) into the search. It will give you a list of all boys and girls names starting with Ba, plus their popularity.
