Looks made up. What about Alana instead.

Dislike, sorry.

Nice

I like it, but I think it should be spelt Marlene as in Dietrich. Although then you get the marleen Boycie connection.

FacebookWillEatItself · 20/08/2014 19:32

If it's the pronunciation Marl-ay-na you are after then the correct way to spell it is Marlene.

Cheeky76890 · 20/08/2014 19:43

Elaina is also nice

I think 'Marlena' is correct as well as 'Marlene'.

It was originally a short form of Maria Magdalena or Maria Magdalene, and both spellings of 'Magdalena/e' are correct, but from different regions.

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 20/08/2014 20:16

I know a Mauin. Pronounced 'Mawin' much nicer.

SevenZarkSeven · 20/08/2014 20:23

It's German I think, Marlene is the spelling, like Dietrich. Maybe an accent somewhere?

There is one at school and everyone calls her mar-lay-na, no-one says marlene like in only fools!

i like it Smile

I am with freckles on this. Expect to hear "Boycie!" As first word. Marlene was married to Boycie, a wide boy :-)

JellySnakesLadderedTights · 16/09/2014 23:06

I really like it. I think it's too complicated to know which spelling to use to get it pronounced exactly as you like it though. Everyone has their own ideas of how it should be said.
