How many "Poppy"s do you know?

I was just wondering, as I know it's become very popular over the past 10 years or so (I blame Jamie Oliver Smile).

So, if you've got too much time on your hands, and you don't mind sharing, tell me how many you know/have met.

Thanks!

I know two, and have come across two others (not too mention numerous cats, dogs and horses!)

Oh really, newusernameplease? Are you in England?

Sophronia Sad.

I do wonder if it will suit all these girls when they're 35/40/50, or if it is the kind of name that never really grows up, iyswim?

One in her 30s, and two or three cats.

Clarabum · 15/08/2014 00:28

1, just outside Glasgow. She's 6.

Sophronia · 15/08/2014 01:39

I can see the appeal of the name, and I do think the flower is pretty Smile but it's just not my style (it's a bit cutesy).

Hulababy · 15/08/2014 01:41

None - none in our family or among dd's friends; none at the infant shook I work at either

MissPricklePants · 15/08/2014 01:44

I know 1 (my 5 yo!) always loved the name. There are no other Poppys at her school or the on I work at. Oh and the name will suit her as an adult I'm sure!

Chottie · 15/08/2014 05:57

Just one little girl who is now 9 (south east London)

mrsnec · 15/08/2014 06:18

3 little girls, one of about 7 and 2 babies born last year in the same month same hospital and all in Surrey.

also 2 dogs.

freyaW2014 · 15/08/2014 06:39

I know of one 3 year old and have heard at least 2 others at dds school
Also my dog is called poppy.

I like the name, my 10 year old dd is called lily and that became really popular but it doesn't matter

Andcake · 15/08/2014 06:41

I know 4 children - 1 adult. I don't mind it but when parents call them pops for short it make me laugh inside as that's what we called farts in our house as kids! Childish I knowBlush

MrsA2 · 15/08/2014 06:52

I would have loved a Poppy but doesn't go with my surname. I don't know any in real life. (I also really liked Polly).

QuietNinjaTardis · 15/08/2014 07:10

1 cat
No people

bringonyourwreckingball · 15/08/2014 07:11

Dd2 has 3 in her new class

AngryBeaver · 15/08/2014 07:18

Just mine, she's eight. I have always loved the name and knew if I ever had a dd that's what she'd be called.
Luckily dh loves it too and it really suits her.
Dh's parents told us they didn't like it when dh rang them to say we'd had a girl and what we'd called her.
Pair of Wankers.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 15/08/2014 07:24
  1. All about 3 and living in different parts of the country.
KenDoddsDadsDog · 15/08/2014 07:26

None!

Ham69 · 15/08/2014 07:28

I don't know any and I know a lot of 0-8 year olds!

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 15/08/2014 07:28

2, ones a 35 year old doctor, the other is 18 and at uni

MyNameIsSuz · 15/08/2014 07:33

There are lots round here (se, not London). I know two little ones but have seen more out and about at toddler groups etc.

I like it but am inclined to agree about it not really being a grown up name, but maybe that's just because there aren't many adult Poppys yet?

burgatroyd · 15/08/2014 07:51

I only know one.

jackandjilly · 15/08/2014 08:06

My dd is called poppy and she is 5.
There are two others in her school although one is spelled poppie. I know a poppy aged 19 too.

herecomesthsun · 15/08/2014 08:11

DS is 6, in his class are a poppy, rose, violet and 2 lilies.

Don't know any. Lovely name!

ClashCityRocker · 15/08/2014 08:22

Just two - one toddler and one who I went to school with.

It's not to my taste, personally, but each to their own.

I do think kids grow into virtually any name.
