Welsh name suggestions please

We have Alys already and number 2 is unexpectedly on the way.

We like Seren and I like Meredith but was surprised to see this is a boy's name in Wales (according to behindthename.com).

Are there any Welsh people out there who can confirm this and maybe suggest alternatives?

Also, can you suggest any boys names we might like?

Carys and Eleri are beautiful
Myfanwy is lovely too.

ooo Megan is a form of Margaret, which is my gran's name. That could work.

Macsen for a boy? Or how about Evan (although that would be Ifan in Welsh)?

Brummiegirl15 · 03/08/2014 21:04

I have a welsh name, my Dad is welsh and Carys is on my list (am pregnant) as I love the idea of my first born having a welsh name

I live in England and all mine have proper Welsh names because they are the greatest names in the world.

Seren has become very very popular.

FranksBobot · 03/08/2014 21:21

Cadi is pronounced caddy

I love the names Ffion, Rhian and Bethan for a girl.

Caleb, Osian and Huw for a boy.

DP is not keen on any unfortunately

wingcommandergallic · 03/08/2014 21:28

i like Carys too but think it rhymes a bit too much so would have to go with Cerys which doesn't quite have the same impact.
Elin is lovely too.

The Cornish version of Iago is nice - Jago. I didn't know it meant Jacob.

When DP gets back from the Diff, will have to make suggestions so he can sit on them for months on end. Think I will get casting vote on tho one as Alys was his suggestion.

I don't mind the th/dd sound but I know it will get pronounced f here.

Thanks for the spelling correction, drudge.

Seren is beautiful (as is its meaning - star) and I love Elis for a boy - if dd had been a boy we'd have used it. I also like eirwen and cerys for girls names.
