Hi all, Do you think the names Rosie and Rory would be too similar for a brother and sister? Thanksxx

They're too similar imo.

badtime · 03/08/2014 11:57

Yes.

ShovettyMcShovetty · 03/08/2014 12:02

A bit matchy, but it doesn't really matter unless you give a rat's bum about that kind of thing. I don't - unless you go stupidly similar, like Claud & Claudia or George & Georgina or something.

tryingtocatchthewind · 03/08/2014 12:15

They are quite similar but they won't go round together for the rest of their lives so how long are people going to say Rosie and Rory

LilyandGinger · 03/08/2014 12:17

Try yelling them (as if across a park) and see how they sound!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2014 12:20

Yes

Theonlyoneiknow · 03/08/2014 17:37

It really doesn't matter, their names are said together for such a short space of time. My DCs have quite matchy names but don't care as love their names so wasn't going to not use them

MrsBungle · 03/08/2014 17:38

Too matchy in my opinion

NewtRipley · 03/08/2014 18:44

I wouldn't go with the same initial. It will be a bit of a pain later. Both lovely names

Happy to help with other suggestions. Promise not to say Jim

NewtRipley · 03/08/2014 18:45

I'm thinkingnabout letters sent to the house with the same initial. It isn't a big deal, just a minor irritation

NewtRipley · 03/08/2014 18:45

They also have ee at the end which is a bit rhymy

jazzyjenbo · 03/08/2014 20:55

My sil has 3dc's
Riley
Rosey
Rory
Works for them so it would work for you x

ralinax294 · 04/08/2014 17:04

I think it's fine :)

Rose might work better than Rosie. Are they twins?

ColdCottage · 05/08/2014 19:09

Nope.

MsAspreyDiamonds · 05/08/2014 20:29

No. Sounds too rhymey like Topsy and Tim.

honeybeeridiculous · 05/08/2014 20:37

I like both names together,
I know 2 siblings called Josh and Ross, now that's bad!!

weatherall · 05/08/2014 22:10

It's fine.

What's wrong with Ross and josh?

honeybeeridiculous · 05/08/2014 23:02

Try calling Ross and Josh. Its like a tongue twister Grin

AChickenNamedDirk · 06/08/2014 06:31

No.

nooka · 06/08/2014 06:38

Yes. Much too similar.

lanbro · 06/08/2014 06:47

They are similar but does it matter if you love the names? I know sisters Laura and Loren, and siblings James and Jane!

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 06/08/2014 06:53

I wouldnt

toobreathless · 06/08/2014 23:41

Too similar.

Which do you already have?

Alternatives for Rosie that have a similar feel (to me anyway)

Posy?
Poppy
Polly
Sally
Rosalind

If you already have a Rosie and are contemplating Rory I'm a bit stuck!
