Seen a name Aelie, how would this be pronounced? I was thinking a-ley?

I think it's pretty although mum has just it sounds like I'm dropping the H of Hayley.

What are your thoughts.

weegie, I don't think I said Eilidh was common, what I meant was that, to me, it sounds like someone saying Ellie in a common accent and it therefore makes it sound common. That puts me off. :(

Aurelia would be wonderful!

Too many vowels for me.

Niah/nia are the same name different origins hence the different spelling. I feel that if spelt nia would be pronounced Neea instead or ni ya.

Think Connie and Niah are the favs

Nia would be pronounced 'nee-ya'. Because that's the correct pronunciation of the name 'Nia'.

Eilidh is not 'common' but it is popular - 4th most popular girl's name in Scotland in 2013, for example:

Flora - it's at 22 on that chart. it's moved up 4 places since 2012.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/08/2014 13:14

Nee-ah is the correct pronounciation Confused

How are you saying Niah?

ArchiveFever · 02/08/2014 14:57

Can also be spelt Ailie as several pp have mentioned, which is very close to your original spelling OP?

I like it.
