So far in order of preference I've got:

  • Aria
  • Lola
  • Clara
  • Stella
What do you think of our main choice and the others?

I like Clara best and also Aria although personally I´d worry about mispronunciation or misspelling with Aria.

Stella is nice too but very popular.

Kamelia1 · 19/07/2014 01:45

Will a fix in spelling do it? Like Aria?

OP posts:
Kamelia1 · 19/07/2014 01:45

I meant Arya

NormalTea · 19/07/2014 02:05

Clara is lovely
Stella is nice but the lager is an issue
Aria is dreadful. I wouldn't know whether to say it in an english or italian accent.
lola is a bit flimsy

Happy36 · 19/07/2014 02:06

I would stick with the Aria spelling.

OutragedFromLeeds · 19/07/2014 02:08

Clara is lovely.

The rest are awful.

Kamelia1 · 19/07/2014 02:09

Well we're not quite English but live here so quite tough task to make it work.. Not Italian either...

We live outside the UK (my husband is not English) so we chose names from the country we live in but that English/other language speakers should be able to pronounce and spell correctly (we hope! It´s worked OK so far - the kids are 6 and 3).

Kamelia1 · 19/07/2014 02:15

Yes, this is my issue with Clara. In my language it should be spelled with "k" and that sounds awful in England. Also with our surname

In English wouldn't 'Klara' sound exactly the same as 'Clara' Confused Grin

I like Clara the best (like Klara too).
Stella is good too.
Don't like Aria - too airy fairy. Like Allegra a lot more if you have a musical leaning.
I have never been keen on Lola probably because of the song.

florascotia · 19/07/2014 11:36

I like Clara -and I don't see why you can't spell it Klara if you prefer. As pervious poster saud, they both sound the same!

I also like Stella, and it has a lovely meaning: 'Star'.

florascotia · 19/07/2014 11:36

saud?? should be 'said'!!!

Bowlersarm · 19/07/2014 11:44

I don't like your favourite choice, but I like the others, particularly Lola.

Guin1 · 19/07/2014 14:55

I'm going to go against the trend and say that my favourite is Aria. By a long way.

wigglesrock · 19/07/2014 17:15

Stella by a mile. Aria & Lola next, probably Lola more than Aria. Clara - way down the list. I find Clara a very clunky name. I love Lara & Cara but Clara just causes me to stumble.

HopefulHamster · 19/07/2014 18:27

I went to school with a Klara (half-German), but we said it just like Clara!

Squtternutbaush · 19/07/2014 20:15

How would you pronounce Aria?

We had a really crap pram at one point that was an Aria (a-ree-a) which was then referred to as Diarrhea by DP :o

Or is it Arya (a-ray-a)?

Rhubarbgarden · 19/07/2014 20:21

Clara or Klara. I don't like the others.

Happy36 · 19/07/2014 20:37

Klara with K is lovely too !

manicinsomniac · 19/07/2014 22:50

Absolutely love Aria.

I like Clara too. Not keen on Lola or Stella

Gingerjv · 20/07/2014 13:11

I like only Aria! wonderful name!

Sophronia · 20/07/2014 19:48

I like Clara but not keen on the others.

ralinax294 · 27/07/2014 00:02

I like Aria but my favourite of these is Lola. I don't like Clara or Stella.

Only1scoop · 27/07/2014 00:02

Lola or Clara

bethellex · 27/07/2014 00:08

Aria is lovely - was one of my top choices - nothing wrong with airy fairy!!
Not keen on Stella but Lola and Clara are also nice!
