Shall I give DC2 my boyfriend's name as a middle name?

Due in September.

Boyfriend's surname is also a lovely, quite common boy's first name.

DD1 has my surname, no particular reason, we just had to pick one of them and mine worked better for us as a family.

DC2 will have my surname as well, but if he's a boy do you think I could give him boyfriend's surname as a middle name? or might DC1 feel a bit put out when she grows up? Not to have her dad's name when her brother does?

If DC2 is a girl none of these problems will apply :)

Very long term relationship and no plans to marry by the way so none of us will be changing to boyfriend's surname in the future.

We aren't really set one way or the other but I wondered what people thought.

I think it's a nice idea. I think your DD1 would be five about it given it is a boy's name too.

I think this is great!
