So we're having a boy which is a big surprise in our family of girls... And finding a name is proving tricky.

I like:
Ezra
Felix
Amos

We both like:
Sonny
Flynn
Loki

But nothing is jumping out at us from our list/or it's just not a suitable name for our baby. Based on these names could anyone suggest what other ones we might like?

Surname starts with a hard sounding G.

Thanks!

I like Oscar but the popularity puts me off a bit (as does the fact my parents had a tortoise called Oscar!)

I also kinda like the sound of Orin. A bit of nameberry searching has lead me to Auley which I think has a nice sound to it. DH has said "that's asking cream isn't it?!"

I have Scandi and UK roots so it kinda makes me lean that way a little bit in my search.

Oh and I liked Abel too. Have suggested it to DH but it was a blanket NO!

Totally along the right lines Capt1 but I just can't imagine calling our kid any if them. Bit awkwardly fussy.... Blush

Mumsnet has been here before, but please not Loki. It's the name of a sly, malicious, deceitful, murderous supernatural creature with very, very dubious sexual preferences. Famous in myth for killing the god that personified good and beauty. Why would anyone name a lovely new baby after him?

Yes, I know that myths are open to all kinds of different interpretations, but, even so ...

Do like Ezra!
Felix is also nice
What about: (Apologies if any of them have already been mentioned)
-raphe
-Finn
-milo
-miles
-giles
HTH but again I would probably go with Ezra, it's a beautiful name.

Arlo

Hi Flora, I am well aware of the background of the name Loki. It is NOT a name I would consider for my son. However I do very much like the sound of it. If it didn't have that background then it would be a strong contender. It's purely there to show the sound of names we like.

I love Ezra so much. So cool and strong and beautiful. But DH won't have it Sad

I like Finn but not Finlay. Finn is a name on it's own, right?
