If you have an Elizabeth can you also have a Charles?

Or will people think we are Windsor wannabies? We just quite like old fashioned names like Charles (would be Charlie I think), but I don't want to look like we are royal fanatics! Elizabeth is not generally known as Elizabeth if that helps, and Charles wouldn't often be called Charles.

I think it would be fine. They're both nice, classic names and if Charles would be Charlie most of the time then I don't see too much of a problem. Smile

It wouldn't have occurred to me to make the connection, tbh. They are both just classic, traditional, nice names.

Charlie and Beth = fine

Chas and Liz = terrible but doesn't scream 'crazed royalist'

Charles and Elizabeth = mega fans

Charles and Elizabeth - too much
Charlie and Libby - lovely

Southpaws · 11/07/2014 14:25

Well Elizabeth is Lizzy 95% of the time and Charles would be a Charlie really but with the option to use Charles if he wanted to, so I would very rarely use their full names at the same time. I'm thinking people probably wouldn't make the connection with Lizzy/Charlie.

I have a Charles and Edward! They go by their nicknames though, and no-one has ever commented on me being a royalist!

Are they named in honour of 1990's crooners Charles & Eddie?

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 11/07/2014 22:42

Of course it's fine.

I have literally JUST realised my cousin has these two names and the Ellie and Charlie in question are now 9 and 7...

ShovettyMcShovetty · 12/07/2014 11:11

Meh someone might make the connection but most people won't. I wouldn't have tbh unless you said. It's not like Beatrice and Eugenie or something. Do it! Both lovely names btw.

I think it's fine. Dh and I liked Will our Harry (couldn't decide which but would have gone with one if we had abit boy), then found out it was id twins - we did draw the line at using both... luckily it was girls as we struggled to choose a second boys name.

Sorry for predictive text typos, you get the idea.

Bowlersarm · 12/07/2014 11:26

It's fine.
