It is a nice sounding word though.

It just sounds like those are the names people are looking up from downton (Cora and violet) and 'slebs (harper and Penelope).

I don't think that many patents are actually using these names.

The one that shocks me is Claire.

I would have thought Claire isn't due a revival for at least another 30 years after being so popular during the 70's and 80's!

This list is American. Claire is trendy in America as is Gemma which I find quite funny.

Claire is a top 50 name in Canada at the moment.

So are Nicholas, David and Anthony.

I know a baby Claire and a toddler Nick.

(Fwiw, Alfie, Charlie, Harry and Archie don't make the top 100, so these might be the next generation of truly British names.)

I have two FB friends who have babies named Khaleesi. Both under 12 months, both English.

Sandy have you ever read "To Kill a Mockingbird"? If you had you might consider naming your child Atticus.
As far as names invented by authors go, the English language has a long history of authors inventing names. Shakespeare invented the name Jessica and J.M. Barrie invented the name Wendy. From what I hear, Game of Thrones names are very popular at the moment.

I don't dislike it, naming after a strong female character. Better than insipid Lora Doone. But she wouldn't be able to read about her namesake until she was much much older. No nicely bound copies of Games of Thrones series as a birth or christening present

I know of a couple with a baby Aria (I know it's not the same spelling) and a middle name Arya.
