Our surname starts with Sav and has three syllables. Sounds a bit Spanish tho we are both British.

  • which of these names do you think wd sound good with Sav….
  • how popular are these names at the moment?
  • looking for something that sounds British but not super common!

Other suggestions v welcome too.

All very popular, I would say, except Michael. Which is a lovely solid name. He probably wouldn't be Michael S in his class at school. (Although, one mother at DD2's nursery was amazed to find her DD was not the only one there - all her DC have really quite unusual names.)

They are all lovely names, though, but some may date a bit. You might not care about that, which is fine.

For similar, less dating names, what about Peter, Luke, Jonathan, Christopher or Reuben?

Also David? Similar to Michael/Peter etc.

I like Michael the best. The others are so popular right now and Michael is a handsome classic.

Agree - Michael is lovely and not overused. Oscar, Noah in particular are very common and may well soon start to sound dated as they fall out favour again.
How about Dominic, Quentin, Andrew or Patrick?

We have a Spanish sounding surname & chose international names. I want my children to be able to work anywhere in the world without having to spell out their name & have people focus on the name, not them.

All the names you have listed are very well known globally I think, I like the first name best.

I have an Isaac :) have met a few others of similar age but I think he's the only one in his infant school (over 200)

I also love Oscar, Jacob and Noah, and am trying to convince DH about Jonah or Josiah for a possible DS2!

I like Michael but I'd probably say only choose it if you're happy with the nicknames as it may get shortened a lot? Mike/Mickey etc?
