Different Boys Names

Struggling massively to choose a boys name that is a bit different, but not too out there.

I really liked 'Max' a few years back and always imagined using the name for my son. Now I've met more Maxs since being pregnant than ever before!

Any ideas?

Blooming iPad. Posted too fast! Was going to agree with Wowzer -we have an Arlo too. Love love love it and suits him perfectly. Am loving this thread as we are due number 2 in 2 weeks. Have loads of girls names but limited boys. Really like otto but think it is too similar to Arlo! Funnily enough a lot of the names I have thought of are on here.

I knew a well fit Alaric once upon a time....

I went to school with a Raymond. I am 41 and it was laughably middle aged even then.

Mind you I went to school with an Elton too. That's unusual OP - problem solved.

That was then. Most of the currently fashionable names were laughably OAP names when I was young. Raymond and its ilk will be the next wave to sweep across the beach of fashionable baby naming.

I like surnames that can be used as Christian names, they can sound very masculine. Do you have any further back in the family (maiden names etc) that you could consider?

Some examples are Harrison, Dawson, Wilson but you'd be amazed how many boys names are originally / also surnames or derivatives of.

Max is probably going to be our sons name, other names I like are:

We have three boys and being a teacher I wanted names I didn't associate with pupils so we have Ned, Gus and Raffey. Obv I love their names! It is such a tricky decision!
