Hello,

We like all the above names but none are quite fitting the bill for a (potential) DS. I am 40+3 today!! We thought we had one but now not so sure.

Can anyone help us out with other ideas?? We are bit stuck! Not good for over emotional hormonal pregnant lady ;)

Doesn't have to be biblical btw, although I know a lot of those are.

I think Francis is due a revival.

Fideliney · 23/06/2014 08:08

They are all very 'now' - is that what you are after?

lovemakespeace · 23/06/2014 08:35

Ooh I like Reuben...quite like the fact that it could become Ben as we like Benjamin but probably do lean towards something a bit more unusual.

My first DS name is on there so good guessing!

Not sure about whether we like 'now', we would dismiss some of the classics based on popularity so maybe...

I REALLY appreciate your help :)

Hmm having a debate here now... We both quite like Elias...nn Eli.

My husband thinks people would call him Elly, which we don't like, whereas Eee-lie we like a lot. I'm not convinced people would go quickly to Elly as it is a girls name.

What do you think?

Sebastian, Hugh, Owen, Monty, Abel, Justin, Sylvester, Ivor, Jasper.

nicename · 23/06/2014 09:58

Elly-as or El-eye-as?

Nicknames often just develop weirdly and not to plan!

nicename · 23/06/2014 09:59

I rather like Jasper...

Fideliney · 23/06/2014 10:01

I can't see the Elly/Ellie thing myself.

BucksKid · 23/06/2014 10:05

Elijah?

PilauMice · 23/06/2014 11:57

Illias?

Legionofboom · 23/06/2014 12:11

If you pronounce it Ee-lie-us than I don't see people calling him Ellie.

Eli is a great name.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 23/06/2014 12:14

Ah I totally disagree and think Eli is a horrible whiny sound!

Just suggested Jonas on another thread - alternative to Jacob?

Vajazzler · 23/06/2014 12:55

Noah?

lovemakespeace · 23/06/2014 13:13

Some great ideas :) Causing some discussion here. So frustrating we almost like the same ones but not quite!!

Elijah was already on the list, but I think it might be a bit of mouthful. I really like Jonas, husband not so sure. Husband likes Jasper, I'm not so sure.

Gaaarrgh!! Had no problems with first son ;)

Thanks again for your help.

I like Elijah and don't think he'd get called Elly from that.

We both like Micah.... do you think any way of avoiding Mike as a nn??

OP posts:
FiveExclamations · 23/06/2014 18:58

Not sure if it's possible to totally avoid a nn you don't like unless you are really stern with everyone who dares Grin.

Just a few more I thought of:

Jerome, Fergus, Orson, Marlowe, Jerimiah, Jonty, Magnus, Nilo, Guy, Barney.

Alita7 · 23/06/2014 19:10

Abel? Max? Leo? Jason? Ivan? Rowan? Silas? Nathaniel? Oscar? Oliver? Ralph? Dexter?

lavender20 · 23/06/2014 19:47

I like Barnaby!!

lovemakespeace · 23/06/2014 19:51

Think we are going to go for Micah James (and ourselves use nn Mikey). Quite excited about it! Also like our girls name too a lot which we had before DS so will be very happy either way. Maybe it will turn out to be boy/girl twins despite the evidence so far (like 3 scans and numerous mw visits!!)

Thanks a lot for all your help.
