Oh, sorry, to answer the op,I quite like it with a K, but people might assume you were Scandinavian.

ByTheWishingWell · 26/06/2014 12:45

I would assume it was spelt Casper, so prefer that to Caspar (I'm English btw).

I know a Kacper, which I think is lovely- he's Polish though.

BravePotato · 26/06/2014 12:46

I know a Casper.

Casper is one of the wise men, isn't he? Rather than "just the friendly ghost". (Caspar, Balthasar and Melchior). It goes back a bit further than 80s cartoons!

It is a nice name IMO.

weatherall · 26/06/2014 12:47

I think Caspar looks like a misspelling.

Casper.

bleurghblah · 29/06/2014 16:11

Thank you all so much. I still have no idea though!!! I think I prefer caspar. The k looked nicer to me but we aren't Danish and with an a is just a step away from friendly ghost. Thank you!!!

Obviously you must do as you think best :) Tbh though, I am not sure that the spelling will make any difference wrt the ghost, as they are pronounced exactly the same.

Artandco · 29/06/2014 20:56

Caspar. I also love Caspian

Fedupofplaystation · 29/06/2014 21:20

I prefer the Caspar spelling.

rosieposey I love your boys names.

BomberManIsAGirl · 29/06/2014 22:33

Ohh, I love Caspian too.

PollyCazaletWannabe · 29/06/2014 22:37

I know a Caspar so Casper looks wrong to me.

Borttagen · 30/06/2014 20:48

Here in Sweden Caspar and Casper are pronounced differently with Casper being the normally used version. I forgot I had this on the list for other DCs and with the next one due in December I might put it back on, thanks OP!

bleurghblah · 04/07/2014 11:20

WowserBowser · 04/07/2014 11:30

A!

Borttagen · 04/07/2014 11:31

E!

florascotia · 04/07/2014 11:38

In case it helps:

A Dictionary of First Names ed P Hanks, K Hardcastle, F Hodges, Oxford University Press (Reference Division) 2006, p 48 gives Caspar as the standard spelling and Casper as a variant.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 04/07/2014 12:00

Which means both are fine! Toss a coin :)

Gingerjv · 04/07/2014 16:38

Caspar for sure! I do not think your kid will like the association of his name with ghost in school;-) By the way Caspar sounds really great

bleurghblah · 04/07/2014 22:48

Flora scotia I would rather have the proper spelling so thank you I think you have made my mind up. Thanks to anyone who took the time to comment, I really appreciate it x

Hi OP, you have great taste. My DS is Caspar and we get loads of compliments on the name. We ummed and ahhed over the Caspar/Casper spelling too but I'm glad we chose Caspar in the end.

ralinax294 · 06/09/2014 14:10
