Im searching mumsnet looking for a boys name that's unusual and appeals to me and im no coming back with a great deal, lots of girls names though!

Anyway me and OH both really like Rex, i think its going to be either marmite or ppl will just outright not like it, but i'm curious sooooooo do you hate it?

Im expecting lots of it sounds like a dogs name comments!

Not really sorry, sounds like an ageing lothario to me. Or a German Shepherd.

squoosh · 22/06/2014 17:29

What's wrong with ageing lotharios? They're ace! Better that than an ageing member of the Neighbourhood Watch committee.

Bruno is my second favourite name, but I may need to rethink that.

DitzyDonkey · 22/06/2014 17:47

Love it

amy83firsttimer · 22/06/2014 18:05

Changing one letter, I really liked Ren for a boy. We had a girl though!

Sidthesausage · 22/06/2014 19:08

Love it

Nereida · 22/06/2014 19:47

Yep, dogs name. How about Lex, or Calix?

TheMuppetsIsWhereIShouldBe · 22/06/2014 20:11

Makes me think of toy story and the car my best friend named Rex after toy story.

I liked Rex though Wink

NoArmaniNoPunani · 22/06/2014 20:14

Apparently max and Charlie are the most popular dogs names. Rex isn't even in the top 10.

Alita7 · 22/06/2014 20:15

I think it's really cool, go for it :)

RabbitSaysWoof · 22/06/2014 20:44

I love it.
My ds has a dogs name (Buddy).
My dog has a people name (I know 4 kids under 4 with my dogs name).
I also love Marmite
If you dont use it you will spend hes babyhood casually mentioning that you were going to call him Rex at every group you go to when the subject of names comes up, and every time you meet another Felix/ Max whatever you will feel a little bit curious how cool your Rex would have been.

Lighthousekeeping · 22/06/2014 22:22

I really like Blake as well. And Kit. There's loads of ace boys names. I love Rex though.

lubitons · 23/06/2014 01:02

Rex is great! I wouldn't worry about it being a dogs name, like someone else said, there's far more dogs called Charlie etc. I have an uncle Rex (late 60's) and he is wonderful.

Guin1 · 23/06/2014 13:58

Another vote for Rex - great name!

DogCalledRudis · 23/06/2014 20:46

Sorry, thats a dog name

BumpNGrind · 24/06/2014 00:37

For those who say its a dogs name I'd be interested to know if you know of any dogs called Rex? My dog played with Jasper, Trevor, Ben, Buttons and Socks but never a Rex. Rufus and Rover are traditional pet names too but I've never known any animals with those names either.

Umbrellasandladders · 24/06/2014 07:24

Didn't Fearne Cotton call her little boy Rex?

Cpt1sock · 24/06/2014 09:49

I love it, on my list for dc3.

MrTumblesCrackWhore · 24/06/2014 10:57

Rex was THE name I wanted for ds1 - I love it. Dh vetoed it.

Baby Rex = so so cute
Teenager Rex = cool
adult Rex = leader

However I'm kind of glad I didn't call him Rex for the toddler years as that would equal fighty, aggressive and the child everyone knows the name of Blush Grin

scrufhead · 24/06/2014 12:54

Rex is a cool name!
same for Lex, kit & Ren (all on my boys list)

DaisyBug1212 · 24/06/2014 13:31

yeah its the name of fearne cottons son and also will champion from coldplays son. i think i might just go with it! ...... baby will be a girl now!
