A girl to go with Poppy

I have girl called Poppy. What girl names could go with it? I don't want another flower. Names I have considered are

Kitty
Hannah
Saskia
Ellie

DPs contribution so far is Carla which I'm not sure about. Appreciate thoughts or ideas.

Saskia out of your list.

Clara, Charis, Orla?

Montsti · 03/06/2014 22:06

I like Kitty and think it goes well with Poppy.

skinmysunshine · 03/06/2014 22:12

I like all your names apart from Ellie

RiverTam · 03/06/2014 22:14

hmm, don't really like any of them apart from Carla maybe.

manicinsomniac · 03/06/2014 22:19

I love Hannah. Saskia is great too.

Think Kitty and Ellie are a bit matchy matchy with Poppy.

Carla is okay but I prefer Clara.

Other ideas - Poppy and:
Alice, Amy, Amelia, Alexa, Asha, Ava, Brooke, Bethan, Cara, Clarissa, Eloise, Eliza, Erin, Eden, Esme, Fiona, Faith, Freya, Georgia, Grace, Giselle, Hope, Harriet, Isla, Imogen, India, Isabel, Jessica, Julia, Kayla, Karina, Leah, Lyra, Layla, Lois, Lydia, Mia, Mya, Megan, Melissa, Nia, Nyah, Naomi, Olivia, Rhianna, Sara, Sophia, Stella, Serena, Sabrina, Sienna, Savannah, Tegan, Tessa, Tara, Tamsin, Vanessa, Zara, Zia

Poppy and Kitty go well together imo.

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2014 22:42

From your list, Kitty or Ellie.

I like Saskia & Hannah but I feel they don't go as well. To me, Poppy is quite a cutesy name, and I don't see Saskia & Hannah in that way. I don't mean to be critical here at all, just trying to be helpful, so please don't take me the wrong way.

I know you said not another flower name, but Daisy was the first name that came to mind.

As for suggestions, I feel Mia or Lucy would go well. Or Maisie, as it rhymes with Daisy.

Kantha · 03/06/2014 22:48

Sasha
Scarlett (or would two 'red' names be odd)
Amber (ditto comment for Scarlett)
Verity

Chocolateporridge · 03/06/2014 22:49

How about Elodie? I think it goes well with Poppy Smile

BlueStarsAtNight · 03/06/2014 22:52

Love Hannah, and think it goes really well! I think Ellie and Kitty are too nick-namey and too much the same pattern as Poppy. Carla is ok.

How about
Poppy and Chloe
Poppy and Bella
Poppy and Eva
Poppy and Isla

weatherall · 04/06/2014 09:08

I think another 2 syllable name would go well.

AWombWithoutARoof · 04/06/2014 11:08

I like Saskia. What about Eliza?

slightlyconfused85 · 04/06/2014 17:36

Thanks for all your suggestions. No criticism taken drama! I'm not keen on Clara or Chloe but I do like Elodie thanks for this. Already have Mia and Lucy in the family and I am a teacher so know lots of Evie and Isla.

Oh good, slightly, I'm glad I didn't offend you. Elodie is a gorgeous name. It must be hard choosing names if you are a teacher - so many associations.

PenTheUltimate · 06/06/2014 19:15

Out of your list I like Saskia best. I think Kitty is more a nn and too similar in sound to Poppy. Elodie is very nice, but would get shortened to Ellie and there seem to be so many of those around (I'm a teacher too!) either as full names or nn for Eleanor, Elsa, Elsie, Ella, Elise, etc, etc.

fuzzpig · 08/06/2014 10:16

I know of a Poppy and a Florence.

I think it would be good to not have a name that ends in the 'y'/'ie' sound

devoncreamtea · 08/06/2014 19:38

I know sister's called Poppy and Chloe (nn Coco)

devoncreamtea · 08/06/2014 19:39

Oh god just realised that makes them Coco-Pops...!! Don't do that then!

Hulafox · 08/06/2014 23:59

Our 12 wk old DD is Carla and I haven't regretted it! It isn't very common which we liked about it.

We also considered Amber, Heidi, Holly, Scarlett, Freya.

As Poppy ends with and 'ee' sound, I think an 'a' sound ending with 2 syllables will complement best. I.e. Poppy and Millie is a bit too cutesy, whereas Poppy and Amber or Poppy and Freya go better IMO.

Agree that Saskia is quite a harsh name v's Poppy that is a pretty name.

I like Poppy and Freya ....

Rtfairy · 09/06/2014 21:43

Kitty definitely!

NorksEnormous · 09/06/2014 21:48

I immediately thought of Emily
