Dd6 DC 10 due by elcs in 3 weeks so trying to make a final decision on names , it has been a stressful pregnancy and I wondered aboutcallingher a name related to calmness as in the calm after the storm. The names that fit this include

Serena but dh says it's a car and I can only think a Williams sister
Serenity. In theory I like this but do feel it would be tempting fate that is she'd be the most fiery of individuals . also thought of an average toddler called serenity cracks me up ,
Clemency
Clementine

A previous front runner had been Miranda which as she's a character from the tempest might also suit .

Recently we've been considering rosemary but I'm now wondering whether Rosanna might be a prettier alternative

What about Seren? It means star in welsh.

I know a Rosanna, NN Rosie/Rosa & a Clementine who has given up due to endless Clemen-teen/Clemen-Tyne pronunciation issues and just goes by Clemmie/Clem now. Clemency makes me think of death row prisoners (sorry!)

nooka · 31/05/2014 07:27

I really like Miranda and Rosanna is cool, I bet there aren't too many around. My middle name is Clemency and I'm not that keen on it, or Clementine. I had a great friend called Serena so I like that. I think Serenity is a little bit silly - makes me think of Seinfeld and 'Serenity Now!'

HippieInASecondLocation · 31/05/2014 07:28

What about Rosa?
I like Miranda. Not keen on any of the others.
What about Clara?

BellaOfTheBalls · 31/05/2014 07:35

YY to Clara Hippie it was always high on my girls name lists, but I seem to only produce boys.

Clara is a wonderful, very strong female character in Isabel Allende's House Of The Spirits as well.

oldbutnotpastit · 31/05/2014 07:37

We can't use serenas we have a niece with that name .

To be honest clemency also makes me think of a death row prisoner but I thought it might just be me.
I'd never really considered the spelling , pronouciation issues with Clementine and not keen on clemmy so I think that may be of the list.

While I do quite like the name serenity , I also agree it feels a bit silly.

So we are down to Rosanna or Serena.
Thanks you've been very helpful

We've considered Clara but living with 2 Dr who addicts , Clara would just make me think of time lords ,have considered clariisa or Clarice nnclara but dh has vetoed them both

Aurora? A beautiful dawn breaking after a long night :)

oldbutnotpastit · 31/05/2014 07:48

Aurora I like a lot and mymn is dawn so quite a nice link but my dsis has just bought chickens and called one aurora and if that's not bad enough said chicken was eaten by a fox 2 days later . so not sure with those antecedents I should use it but I don't see my sister a lot .

Selene/Selena? Could be a nice alternative.

Fwiw I really love Rosanna and Miranda.

Viatrix · 31/05/2014 14:30

I like Rosanna the best. I prefer Selena to Serena.

Allalonenow · 31/05/2014 14:41

I like Miranda best from the names you have mentioned.

What about Rosamund in the "Rose" names, but a bit different, or Felicity (means bringing happiness)?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/05/2014 14:43

Miranda is lovely. Not v fond of the others.

DC TEN? Did I read that right? Wow!

UriGeller · 31/05/2014 14:46

Marcella
Marina
Susannah
Rowena (not really, its just rhymes Grin )
Selina
Cecelia
Celia
Celandine (bit like Clementine. Planty)

honeybeeridiculous · 31/05/2014 15:20

How about going the opposite to calm and have storme?
Or savannah?
What sort of names have your other children got?
Congratulations on number 10 by the way, you deserve a medal Grin

oldbutnotpastit · 31/05/2014 16:19

Can't use felicity as it is dd5's mn.
I like Rosamund dh not keen , the other girls have old fashioned relatively unusual biblical names eglydia tabitha
Rowena I like dh doesn't
Cecelia /Celia are definitely on the shortlist ,Selena is nice but I don't love it.
Celandine dh would never consider it.
