Or just an MN name. You know, like Ptolemy.

I also like Dalia, Esther and Claudia.

DH likes Leah.

I know real life Esthers and Claudias.

Bonsoir · 28/05/2014 12:57

Leah is horrible.

MadScientistsRuleTheAsylum · 28/05/2014 12:57

I know an Anoushka, she works at my DS's preschool. She's lovely :-)

I have a Claudia and a close friend has an anousha, lovely name!

wrapsuperstar · 28/05/2014 12:58

I know an Anoushka. She is in her late teens and goes by Annie.

MrsBungle · 28/05/2014 12:58

I like dalia from your list.

MadScientistsRuleTheAsylum · 28/05/2014 12:58

And there is an Esther where I work, sat opposite me right now :-) Also very lovely. Claudia is OK, not sure about Dalia.

Leah - interesting one, I sort of like the name but I have met Leah's who I really don't like which colours the name for me, although it was a long time ago.

Vanessa feltz' s dd is anoushka and there were a couple of them on big brother years ago so I do t think it's that unusual name.

Mrsindecision · 28/05/2014 13:04

I know young 3 Anoushkas. Certainly v usable in RL IMO.

Mrsindecision · 28/05/2014 13:06

"3 young", not* "young 3"!

AMI88 · 28/05/2014 13:06

I know anoushka who goes by Noosha

It's a lovely name, a bit of a mouthful for younger children, so it will be shortened in some way x

commsgirl · 28/05/2014 13:07

I know a lovely little girl called Anoushka aged 4. Gorgeous name.

wafflyversatile · 28/05/2014 13:08

I know a 35 year old and a 3 year old Anoushka.

idontlikealdi · 28/05/2014 13:12

I work with a Ptolemy and an Anoushka!

slightlyconfused85 · 28/05/2014 13:13

I know a little Anoushka, I think it's a lovely RL name!

HarderToKidnap · 28/05/2014 13:16

A Ptolemy and an Anoushka in the same place????? If there is also an Arlo and a Clementine there then the MN baby name section will just explode.

I know a couple of Leah's and I've never seen the attraction. I grew up in the 80s and it was considered a popular, if slightly common name then!

GeordieMama · 28/05/2014 13:35

I had a dance teacher called Anoushka when I was a kid, she was lovely and I've always liked the name.

Notso · 28/05/2014 13:42

I know of three women called Anoushka. I don't like it, it sounds like a food.

I don't like Dalia, Esther or Claudia either.

Leah is ok.

Viviennemary · 28/05/2014 13:43

It's a bit over the top unless you're a Russian ballerina. I don't know any. I think Esther is a much much nicer name in every way. I know of one Leah. Don't like it much at all.

I don't think Anoushka is as niche as Ptolemy. It does sound like the name of a Hungarian stew though.

I like Claudia.

AnonButRegular · 28/05/2014 14:15

Love Anoushka

5madthings · 28/05/2014 14:17

I like it and Anouk is on my name list if I ever have another (unlikely).

It had loads of possibilities for nicknames etc, is unusual but a known name.
