Middle name for Penelope

Just a bit of a poll really. Please vote for your favourite
I am not looking for more name suggestions- please only your favourite of these two- if you don't like either, that's fine but please don't slate them.

We have chosen Penelope for our DD2 due in 2 days. We need to decide on a middle name.

A sister to Ariana.

We have a one syllable last name (totally outs self)

These are VERY different names but will give you a brief reason for why we like them.

First choice: Penelope London

I know it's a little 'out there' and we really don't want to go for the whole 'Brooklyn, India, Paris' type of place name but we just think it's sounds strong and not only that, we are not originally from London but met here, made a life here, and it has significant meaning for us- we realise it might be a little 'too out there' for some and was for us at first but kind of just grew on us.

Second choice- Penelope Aurélia

We have always loved this name both feminine and masculine version (Aurelius/Aurelian)
It means 'golden' and since DD1's first name means 'silver' in Welsh (or 'holy one' Latin) I think silver and gold have a nice connection grasps at straws
But we also realise it is quite close to DD1's name in sound hence why we are considering it as a middle name.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

I actually saw the pronunciation thread... Was a bit 'meh' as since it's a middle name it won't get said that often.
As for cartoonish... Like..super hero cartoon? WinkGrin hehe

I think DH is really keen to go for London. He's a weirdo but it does grow on you.

Go for it OP!

SpringBee · 25/05/2014 16:56

I love Penelope London!

CrispyFern · 25/05/2014 17:06

London.
Aurelia is too long with Penelope. And it's too similar to DD 1's name I think.
Penelope London.:)

Mynewone · 25/05/2014 17:14

London

TheWhispersOfTheGods · 25/05/2014 17:18

I like Penelope London (might be biased, I love my city!) and I think it works better with Penelope - Aurelia is too feminine next to Penelope for me, they are both very feminine names and I like the harder edge of London.

Also it's cool Grin! And, is she ever becomes a famous actor or author it would make a fantastic nom de plume!

florascotia · 25/05/2014 17:28

There is famous, extraordinary, unconventional and controversial American author, Jack London ('Call of the Wild' etc).

If you like London as a middle name, then why not? You say that the place has special associations for you and your DH, and it's very romantic that you want to pass these on to your baby. Will be a great thing to tell her when she's old enough.

itfcbabe · 25/05/2014 17:43

I really like the name London.
xx

molly84 · 25/05/2014 17:46

Penelope Aurelia is stunning

janie2 · 25/05/2014 17:54

London, it seems to mean the most to you which is the important thing!
Aurelia is lovely, but my first thought was silver and gold are to linked in my head to winner and runner up that it might not be the best idea!

burgatroyd · 25/05/2014 18:07

Penelope London is fab! Prefer quirky mn as they are great talking points.

MyrtleDove · 25/05/2014 18:38

I like Penelope London better. Penelope Aurelia is a bit too frilly and fussy for me - I don't think of Penelope as a fussy sort of name.

thatwhichwecallarose · 25/05/2014 19:04

I like Penelope London too! I've surprised myself but it's grown on me over the thread!!

Nunyabiz · 25/05/2014 19:23

Wow thanks everyone for your input.
I must say I did not expect such a strong leaning towards London- pleasantly surprised!
I know it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks, and not everyone has the same taste in names, but I know I can be a bit inwardly judgey pants about other people's name choices and think our friends and family could possibly be a bit too polite to say anything, so it's been very insightful to get your feedback!

Penelope London is fab! It works better (IMO) with Penelope and is really different but not in a weird way... I'd love that name :-) I love the name Aurelia but I don't think it works with Penelope as well... Great choices!

funnyoldonion · 26/05/2014 17:58
