Girls names to go with Lynn

DearDinah · 18/05/2014 08:34

We found out yesterday we're having a girl & wanted to honour DH's mother who passed away in Feb, her name was Lynn. I'd like to use it as a middle name.
Deciding on names we both like is proving difficult!
So far we seem to like E names:
Erin
Esther
Evelyn (I'm not so keen on this but we liked Evie & thought Eve Lynn would sound too close to Evelyn anyway)
I do love the name Erin & was thinking a cute nn could be Wren? Would Erin Lynn go?
Still would like backup names so any suggestions would be very welcome!

I think Evelyn without Lynn middle name would be a really nice way to honour your Mil. The name is there but it is also different enough that your daughter has her own.

I don't think Erin Lyn flows well because of the hard N sound in the second syllable of both.

I think I longer first name would lend itself to Lyn as a middle name -

Olivia Lyn flows well (to my ears).

I like Evelyn the most too. It still honours your MIL and is a gorgeous name.

Ava Lynn?

Clara Lynn?

Rosa Lynn?

kiera Lynn?

Bessie lynn?

Caitlin? I do love Evelyn though :)

alita7 · 18/05/2014 10:24

Marilyn? Madelyn?

Hairylegs47 · 18/05/2014 10:26

Oo, I like Madelyn
Very nice

ThisIsYourSong · 18/05/2014 10:38

Esme is lovely.

Erin Lynn is a bit rhyming but you hardly ever hear a full name so shouldn't really be a problem...

Clargo55 · 18/05/2014 10:40

We are also using the middle name Lynn and thinking of using Grace as a first name.

Locketjuice · 18/05/2014 10:41

Theresa

Thank you for your suggestions Evelyn is growing on me now, would most people pronounce is Eve-Lynn or ever-lyn?
Also liking Clara Lynn but not sure DH would go for it, Esme is lovely too, I kind of feel to use Erin you need some Irish connection & we have none! Lol
Would you pick a middle name if you used Evelyn?

I don't think any of your names go with Lynn but I also think that doesn't matter at all. You are choosing Lynn for a reason and your daughter's names will very rarely be used together like that.

I like the ideas of incorporating Lynn into a first name too

You could have:
Jacqueline, Emmeline, Jocelyn or Katelyn as well as those suggested

In America they have several girls names with Lynn on the end that you don't hear here (or at least I've never heard them):
Braelynn
Brooklynn
Caelynn
Gracelynn
Jaelynn
Kailynn
Raelynn

If you're keeping Lynn as a first name that I think any name which ends in an a or ah sound goes well with it

AddUpToNothing · 18/05/2014 20:14

I like Evelyn and would pronounce it ev-uh-lyn.

I know of a little girl with Lynn as her middle name. She's Darcie Lynn.

Varya · 18/05/2014 20:18

Cherry-Lynn?

Mitchell2 · 18/05/2014 20:22

I know a Jennifer Lynn.

StrawberryMojito · 18/05/2014 20:25

My mums middle name is Evelyn and she hates it, really despises it. I like Esther Lynn.

bouncingbelle · 19/05/2014 00:02

Elin? Or Elyn?

BlueStarsAtNight · 19/05/2014 06:20

I love Edith Lynn, but I love old fashioned names so might not be everyone's taste!

Also like
Esther Lynn
Eleanor Lynn
Eliza Lynn

skinmysunshine · 19/05/2014 06:48

I think Evelyn is lovely too and I would also pronounce it Eve-lynn.

My DD has Marilyn for her mn after my mum who died when I was young. She has an E name too.

Leeds2 · 19/05/2014 08:21

I don't think Erin Lynn goes, but you could add a second middle name between the two names.

I don't think you have to be Irish to use Erin.

threedeer · 19/05/2014 08:28

Rosalyn? She could be Rosa or Rosie for short?

I like Evelyn and Madelyn is beautiful.

Darcie Lynn is very cute.

SpamTroll · 19/05/2014 08:42

I love Evelyn. If pronounce in. Ev Lin ( Not Eve Lin)

devoncreamtea · 19/05/2014 09:41

I would say Eve - lynn

Viatrix · 19/05/2014 17:02

I like Esther Lynn the best. Esther is so pretty and underused.

DearDinah · 19/05/2014 22:46

Thanks everyone, DH now loves Evelyn Rose (Evie for short) & I like Esther Lynn, our surname ends with a hard N also so Erin would sound funny/rhymey as much as I like it!
How can we decide! It's so hard, I guess you just have to wait till she's here?
