Have chosen the first name, begins with B. Surname begins with F. Would love to have a one syllable middle name but just stuck with about 3 I can think of Confused
Can anyone help with suggestions please?
Thanks.

Do you prefer conventional names or would free spirit names like Sun or Rain or Leaf be of interest? I can think of lots of those!

GingerRodgers · 16/05/2014 08:41

The first name is a bit 'out there' so I'd rather have something more conventional I think.

Shortlisted names are

Grace
Elle
Eve
May
Pearl
Kate
Jean
Maeve
Nell
Rose
Winn

Any favourites?!

Also, how 'wrong' is it to give both dd's the same middle name? A total no no? Or just odd?

Elle/Belle
I love Tess
Anne
Jayne

Cross-posted

I like Elle, Kate and Maeve from your list.
Dislike Pearl, Jean and Winn(not heard this before).
The others are all nice names.

I think giving the same middle name is ok if it is a family surname type name but if I was doing it I would also give them their own middle name so they would effectively have 2 middle names. I think it is customary to do that in some countries and using the mothers maiden name.

From your list I like Rose and Grace the best. Is Ann too plain?

HemlockStarglimmer · 16/05/2014 08:51

Ruth
Clare
Eve
Jade
Kate
Ann(e)

For me personally if I had the same middle name as a sibling, unless it was a family name with great meaning, I would think that my parents didn't have much imagination.

SanityClause · 16/05/2014 08:55

Eve is so lovely and classic.

If the middle name is a family name, then it's not odd to give it to two or more children. If it's just because you like it, well, have some imagination, woman! There are loads of lovely names. Surely you can find more than three that you like!

GingerRodgers · 16/05/2014 08:58

Dd1's middle name is my favourite girls name as it was my beloved grandmothers name. So glad dd1 has it as her middle name but nothing else 'fits' now for dd2. Just don't want to settle for something that's not perfect.
2nd on the list is May but only because it's a nice name and sounds lovely with the first name. No special meanings about it or relevance so I'm not sure.

My dd's middle name is May, it was the name of two close relatives and lovely for a middle name IMO. However it is seen as chavvy apparently.

SanityClause · 16/05/2014 09:30

Well, if it is a family name, I don't see why they shouldn't share it.

How about;

Fern
Dawn
Sian
Joy

Artandco · 16/05/2014 09:34

I like pearl, maeve and Nell from your list

Artandco · 16/05/2014 09:37

eatyourveg · 16/05/2014 09:58

did your dgm have a middle name you could use?

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 16/05/2014 10:20

Go for Jean!

If not, Tess, Ruth, or Jess.

FarToGo · 16/05/2014 10:50

My daughter has a rather modern,'out there' name followed by Clare, it flows really well, and has meaning.

GingerRodgers · 16/05/2014 12:42

I love the way jean sounds with the first name but it sounds a bit like Billie Jean? Don't know if this would be picked up on.
Also thought of Tess as that's a family name. Just not sure how much I like it.
Love Eve but very very similar to dd1's name
