I love this name and called my ds Calvin so I can call him Cally :)

TequilaMockinBird · 14/05/2014 22:36

I love it. Very pretty sounding name.

Reminds me of Grange Hill, can't remember what the character was like though so not sure if that's good or bad Grin

ipswichwitch · 14/05/2014 22:38

I love it. So much so that it was on our short list for girls names. Only never used it as we have 2 DS's!

WorldWildWifeFund · 14/05/2014 22:44

My grandmother was called Cal, short for Caroline.

GlitterFingers · 14/05/2014 22:46

I have a callie she is lovely it's very pretty. A lot of people ex in laws call her Kelly though Angry

GreenSpaghetti · 15/05/2014 03:59

Lovely name, good across the life span imo and very pretty

StretchyCat · 15/05/2014 07:54

I know a Cally short for Caroline. I like it, prefer your -ie spelling as well.

deepinthewoods · 15/05/2014 08:06

That is my cat's name.
Although we spell it Kali, Hindu godess of destruction.

Bearandcub · 15/05/2014 08:10

It's lovely

maggiethemagpie · 15/05/2014 08:11

I like Callie. Is it a nn or the full name?

Leeds2 · 15/05/2014 09:15

I like it.

Thurlow · 15/05/2014 09:18

I used to go to school with a Callie, I always thought it was a really pretty name.

FoxSticks · 15/05/2014 09:20

I like Callie, I am partial to a bit of Midsomer Murders though! I always wondered if it was short for anything or a name in its own right?

NigellasDealer · 15/05/2014 09:20

yes it sounds good, it reminds me of the girl in Follyfoot

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/05/2014 09:21

I like it!!!

Ludways · 15/05/2014 09:23

I knew a few on the states but only one over here. I like it.

UriGeller · 15/05/2014 09:26

I know a Callie, short for Calista. I prefer her full name but as a nickname its ok.

drinkingtea · 15/05/2014 09:30

I like it but would 100% assume it was short for something. Went to school with a Callie, short for Caroline. I think its a bit like naming a boy Tom or Alfie - lots of people will assume they are short for a longer name, thouh that doesn't make it "bad" its just something to be aware of.

squoosh · 15/05/2014 11:04

Reminds me of Grange Hill too! She was one of the 'cool' girls.

I remember Follyfoot too - I think the Callie in the tv show / books had Kathleen as her full name.

TheCowThatLaughs · 15/05/2014 15:12

Reminds me of grange hill too. I would have given anything to be called Callie at the time! Now, I'm not so keen tbh. I think it would be nice as a nn for something though.

Salazar · 15/05/2014 15:46

Is Calliope a name, or have I made it up? I like it.

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/05/2014 15:50

It's a name. Do u watch greys anatomy? Callie in that is short for calliope

SouthernComforts · 15/05/2014 15:51

I love it!

(Very rare of me to think that on here!)

There's a brilliant character in greys anatomy called Callie (Calliope)

BlueKarou · 15/05/2014 15:55

Another one to think of Grey's Anatomy, but not in a bad way - I thoroughly adore Calliope 'Callie' Torres.

Agree with previous posters saying people may assume it's short for something, however I know more people who dislike their full name and stick to a shortened version than I do people who wish their short name was actually short for something.
