Ocean or Oceans?

Which name do you prefer for baby girl or are they too out there? Met baby Ocean and loved the name even though had dismissed it previously when I read it in name book so perhaps works better when said out loud. Thoughts welcome.

I know a Osha lol

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 19:00

Don't like the ox in oxana!

Makes me think of a cruise liner too. How about Oriel? Or Osiris (Egyptian god - but could probably be used as a girls name).

EvilTwins · 12/05/2014 19:09

I think Oxsana is pronounced Oshana.

EvilTwins · 12/05/2014 19:10

Oxana, I mean

alita7 · 12/05/2014 19:15

Sorry I don't like word names... oceana is slightly better!

LittleBearPad · 12/05/2014 19:21

No. Sounds like a French supermarket or a cruise line.

BikeRunSki · 12/05/2014 19:23

I know an Oceian. Pron very much like Ocean, but with a but of emphasis on on the I. Oh-she-an.

FlipFantasia · 12/05/2014 19:26

Odessa (I love the sound of this - I know one little one and I think it's gorgeous!).

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 19:45

Odessa is great!

I love Ocean, Oceana makes me think of horrible nightclubs though.

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 19:47

Just checked meaning and first website said odessa means wrathful!

apermanentheadache · 12/05/2014 19:48

Roisin would be ace - pronounced Rosheen. Same sort of sound.

ContinentalKat · 12/05/2014 19:48

I don't like either, what about the French version, Océane? Very popular a little while ago.

Brummiegirl15 · 12/05/2014 19:52

Oceana is a shit sleazy nightclub in Birmingham.

Or a P&O cruise liner

Please - just don't

apermanentheadache · 12/05/2014 19:52

Or Saoirse pn seer-sha.

Brummiegirl15 · 12/05/2014 19:52

I also think Roisin is fab too though

Bluestocking · 12/05/2014 19:55

Odessa is a port in Ukraine. Do you think there's a Ukrainian MNetter posting about what a beautiful name Grimsby would be?

Juno321 · 12/05/2014 20:01

Neither sorry, both sound like a some sort of holiday complex.

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 20:06

Roisin could be a grower... Cheyenne has similar sound but makes me think of pepper

Someone suggested Osiris! What god of the dead? Chopped up by his brother, who would think that's a nice name for a little girl.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 12/05/2014 20:30

Sedna, goddess of the sea?

LittleBearPad · 12/05/2014 20:33

Odessa is also where quite a few people are getting shot at the moment. I'd steer clear if I were you.

sonlypuppyfat · 12/05/2014 20:38

Didn't Sedna get her fingers chopped off? I'd give up on the gods and goddesses.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 12/05/2014 20:39

Oriel?
