Do you like the name Clementine? Also, what do you think of the nn Clemmie? Thanks in advance for opinions.

I always hear the song whenever I hear the name so it isn't one I'd choose.

Uptheairymountain · 29/04/2014 08:02

It's lovely. It was on my list for DD, along with the very similar Clemency.

FrumiousBandersnatch · 29/04/2014 08:27

I know a Clementine who is in her late twenties but no little ones. Winston Churchill's wife was a Clementine.

I like Clemmie but I prefer Clemency as the full name, mostly because Clementine sticks the awful 'oh my darlin' son in my head on a loop.

Lancelottie · 29/04/2014 08:33

I know a Clementine (Clemmie) and Clemency (usually Clem). Both seem to carry it off fine.

RabbitPies · 29/04/2014 11:51

I hate. It's very popular on MN and I have no idea why. It's horrid.

HolidayCriminal · 29/04/2014 11:56

Don't keep back what you really think, Rabbit. Wink

Theonlyoneiknow · 29/04/2014 13:10

I know of one, she is 4yrs old.

Sorry OP but I'm not keen. Clemency is much nicer IMHO

Winnie101 · 29/04/2014 15:52

I really wanted honest opinions so thank you. I knew there was a reason or reasons why it wasn't more popular!

Are there any other names you like winnie101 ?

My dd is Clementine, although we pronounce it teen instead of tine. I know of two others under 5 in the area we live. I've never had a bad reaction to it from anyone. I think it's such a pretty name.

SuperScrimper · 29/04/2014 18:04

Now Juliet I love! Classic, timeless, elegant name.

RabbitPies · 29/04/2014 18:23

Juliet is beautiful.

voiceofgodot · 29/04/2014 19:47

I have twin 4yo girls, and thought about Clementine as a middle name for one although opted for Clemency for the reasons given by others. Even though I love Clemency I don't think it works shortened so wouldn't have gone with it as a first name.

My other daughter is a Juliet and I love it - it's classic, and still quite unusual - although gaining in popularity it seems.

I love it and if we do have another baby it is a front runner, just not sure on Clemmie

skinmysunshine · 30/04/2014 12:00

I don't mind Clementine but also prefer Clemency.

evamummy · 01/05/2014 12:13

Love Clementine. Dislike Clem or Clemmy/Clemmie.

Raeray · 01/05/2014 12:19

Another yes vote for Clementine!
I think it's pretty and like Clem/ Clemmie for nicknames. I guess nicknames like mimi could be used too.
If you like it go for it! Smile

Lannypanny123 · 01/05/2014 14:51

I love it very pretty, xxx

AWombWithoutARoof · 02/05/2014 15:42

I love it, and Juliet.

I'd say Clementyne, rather than Clementeen, which is more usual?
