I heard a little girl being called in the park today her name was something like Lilliya it was so pretty but don't think it was quite that. I left the park and can't for the life of me remember what the name actually was now.
It was Lilly something and ended in an A sound.
I may have totally misheard but are there any names that you know that could be the one I'm thinking of? Having serious baby brain Confused.
Also how would you spell Lilliya / lilia ?? And is it actually a name.

Gosh hate when my brain stops working I know I sound pretty air headed in this post lol

Thank you

The most popular spelling would be Lilia but you can have Lillia. It's a lovely name.

winnybella · 28/04/2014 17:01

There's Lilia in Polish, nn Lilka.

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2014 17:01

Lillian?
Lydia?

eltsihT · 28/04/2014 17:01

Lilja was one of my top names if ds was a baby girl. (It's Icelandic/Scandinavian)

TheHouseofMirth · 28/04/2014 17:07

We used to know a Liliana

TheHouseofMirth · 28/04/2014 17:17

We also know a Milia

justhayley · 28/04/2014 17:43

Thanks all.
I just went on the mothercare app where you can listen to the pronunciation of names - lilia was pronounced Lee Lee A as opposed to Lily A is that right?

I know a Lelia, pronounced Leel-ee-ah or sometimes Leel-yah

UriGeller · 28/04/2014 17:49

I know a polish girl named Lilia pronounced like Lilian but without the 'n' .

Its very very pretty

BitchPeas · 28/04/2014 17:52

I know a lilliana, very pretty name.

Pronounced li - lee - ar - na

florascotia · 28/04/2014 18:03

An old-fashioned Scottish name is Lilias (Lil-ee-us).

Blueberrybaby · 28/04/2014 19:00

Yes it was probably Lilia, which is very pretty. Many moons ago one of the professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing was Lilia Kopylova, she hailed from Russia I believe so I think the name also East European roots as well as Scandinavian I think.

Blueberrybaby · 28/04/2014 19:00

Pronunciation for me would be Lil-ee-ah.

badtime · 28/04/2014 21:08

I like the spelling 'Lilya'.

It can be pronounced Lil-yah or Lily-ah, however you spell it.

mathanxiety · 29/04/2014 01:24

Lilia in Polish, Russian, Italian, etc would be pronounced Lee-lee-a.

I like this version much more than Lily, Lillian, etc.

Memom · 29/04/2014 01:27

Liala - pronounced Lee Ay La?

florascotia · 30/04/2014 10:12

Surely, Liala = Lee Ah La?

It's Italian.
It was invented as a pen-name by famous Italian romantic novelist Amalia Negretti (d. 1995). Vintage pic of her here: it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liala

You can hear Italian pronounciation here: www.forvo.com/word/liala/

Princessavarose · 30/04/2014 22:45
