I don't like any boys names!

We've managed to scrape together a shortlist of names we'd use if we had to but none of them feel exactly right.
Thomas
Henry
Jasper
Roman

I only really like the first 2, DP likes the last 2 and Rupert as well but I just can't even bring myself to put that on the list.

I love Frederick but DP hates it. Also like Jesse but it sounds extremely girly with the surname Lee. Love Elliot but we used it as a middle name for DS1.

I want something not massively mainstream but not too out there either.

I'm stuck!

How far along are you? I think sometimes it's helpful to have a short list then see which one feels right when the baby arrives, so one of those names may feel perfect then. I agree with you on Rupert, it's such a posh boy name, don't think I could use it.

littlegreengloworm · 26/04/2014 10:44

I know the feeling.

Just from your list would you like James or Joseph?

Is so hard. I wouldn't be mad about Rupert, but then, once the baby is here it might suit them.

YokoUhOh · 26/04/2014 10:45

I've got a Fred, short for Alfred not Frederick...does that help?

littlegreengloworm · 26/04/2014 10:46

Sorry you didn't want too mainstream. Edward, Vincent ?

Nestabee · 26/04/2014 10:46

Jacob

JumpingJackSprat · 26/04/2014 10:57

Wow I don't like any boys names either the only ones I would put on my shortlist are henry, jasper and roman and I was coming on the thread to give you those names! ! They're all good names. Especially line roman. If you're not sure about that how about Ronan?

Anjou · 26/04/2014 11:04

Congratulations OP! I think there's quite a divide between Thomas/Henry & Jasper/Roman. The former are very traditional and the latter much more creative. Are you looking to try to bridge the gap, or are you & your DH both partial to both types of names?

Rufus
Benedict
Kester
Miles/Milo
Jude
Alexander nn Xander
Oscar
Peter
Will

Bluestocking · 26/04/2014 11:09

Peter is a great name and really underused. How about the other apostles' names? Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and so on.

RoseberryTopping · 26/04/2014 11:18

Some good suggestions, thanks.
Can't have Peter or Will with the surname, they'd be Will Lee and Peter Lee which is a town local to us!
DS1 is Jacob which I love, I'd quite happily use it again.

Love Vincent but it's an ex's name so DP is very against it.

Going to add Alfred and Rufus to the list to think about, don't think DP will be keen on Alfred though.

Love biblical names, Seth, Zak(ariah), Noah, Jonah?

crispyporkbelly · 26/04/2014 11:37

I think a long or a name with a few syllables like Alexandra or Oliver sound good with such a short surname. Dominic is nice too

cece · 26/04/2014 11:43

Jonathan
Victor
Gregory
Mark
Paul
Christian
Alexander
Samuel
Rory

Nestabee · 26/04/2014 11:45

Ryan
Isaac
Edward

ancientbuchanan · 26/04/2014 11:55

If you use Roman, with Lee, there is quite a Romany/ Gypsy tie up, which you may like or not.

Toby/ Tobias
Jude
Inigo
Paul
Bart/Batholomew/Bartelmy
Daniel
Darius
Edmund
Edward
George
Hadrian/Adrian
Adam
Marcus
Jeremy/Jeremiah
Laurence

rachel234 · 26/04/2014 12:20

Will Lee Grin

Love Roman Lee or how about Reuben Lee or Quentin Lee?

cakeymccakington · 26/04/2014 12:26

Josiah
Gabriel
Otto
Casper
Ivan
Jago
Joss

BotBotticelli · 26/04/2014 14:06

I have a little boy called Keir. I think that is a nice classic name, that's also unusual? (biased!)....other names we considered for boys were:

Arran
Cole
Rafael (Raffa for short)
Cassius
William
Frederick (Freddie)
Charlie/Charles

MakeUpVirgin · 26/04/2014 21:27

Hugo
Marcus
Tobias
Owen
Aidan
Casper
Ciaran
Leon
Nathan
Zachary
Barnaby
Alistair

Thecircle · 26/04/2014 21:38

Some lovely names on this thread. I love Jasper, like Casper too. And roman is lovely

Matthew maybe?

I'm local to Peterlee also op, not many of the names mentioned feature much around here

RoseberryTopping · 26/04/2014 22:19

Oh I forgot I like Zachary! Going to add that to my list as well :)

I thunk I'm just a fussy bugger with boy names, there's not much that really strikes me. I hope I grow to love something else, I don't if it's just cos I'm a bit hormonal but I feel a bit sad that I might have to name him something I don't love :(
