Evie is super popular near me (SE). Never met a Georgette though, it's very pretty.

Choccyhobnob · 24/04/2014 09:50

Know quite a few Evies (not sure if they are short for Evelyn though or just Evie). Don't know any Georgette's though!

smartypants1000 · 24/04/2014 15:45

Same here, Evie v popular but never met a Georgette, only Georgia and Georgina. Much prefer Georgette, it's lovely!

aoife24 · 24/04/2014 15:50

I knew a Georgette at University, the one and only I have met and I think t's a lovely name, quite like that it can be 'George' too.

alita7 · 24/04/2014 17:04

there were twins called evie (eve) and Georgie (Georgia) in my class at school.

florascotia · 24/04/2014 17:19

In 2012, there were over 5000 babies called Evie or Eva in England and Wales. (Evie was no. 11 in the Top 100 list; Eva was no 24.)

Georgia was no. 55 in the Top 100 list, with just over 1000 babies with that names.

Agree that Georgette is pretty.

Pregnantberry · 24/04/2014 17:32

Love Eva/Evie, dislike Georgie/Georgette.

Evie or Eva makes me think of intelligence, or elegance. Georgie sounds a bit humdrum and bleh, while Georgette makes me think of laundrette - but maybe that's just me!

Wishfulmakeupping · 25/04/2014 13:52

I have a Georgie but its short for Georgia- I love Georgina, Georgiana and obviously Georgia but I'm not keen on Georgette sorry!
Evie is sweet if its a nn for Evelyn but think its too much of a little girls name for an adult iyswim

Wishfulmakeupping · 25/04/2014 13:53

Oh and Georgie's are not humdrum they are fabulous ;)

ApocalypseNowt · 25/04/2014 13:54

I know loads of Evies (or variations on that theme). Don't know any Georgettes. To be fair I prefer the name Georgia but that is more popular. Georgie is a super cute nn for a girl though!

betold · 25/04/2014 15:35

I wanted to call dd Georgette (after Heyer) but compromised with DH on Georgia nn Georgie.

It was in the top 50-ish when DD was born but we've not met any others her age.

I know quite a few little Evie/Eva/Ava etc.

I really like Evelyn as it could be very grown up/professional as well as having nn Evie.

Wishfulmakeupping · 25/04/2014 18:59

Same here betold not met a single Georgia either which is weird considering its supposed to be popular but lots of Evie/eve/Eva's here

OublietteBravo · 25/04/2014 19:06

I know lots of small girls called Georgie (none of them are Georgette though - all Georgia, Georgina or Georgiana).

I only know one Evie (which is short for Evelyn).

TheVGHater · 26/04/2014 07:22

What about Lovisa?

chocchips · 27/04/2014 11:19

My dd is Georgia Eve. Tonnes of Evies around here, never met one young Georgia/Georgie/Georgette.

rachyconks · 27/04/2014 11:22

Love them both. Slightly biased as DD's middle name is Evelyn after my nan though! Georgette is lovely.

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/04/2014 12:07

I think Evelyn is quite popular.

I've never heard of a real life Georgette, well not in recent times.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 27/04/2014 15:31

I have an Evelyn (Evie) haven't met any others so far..

Raskova · 27/04/2014 15:43

My DD is Evee. (Her dad thought that was how it was spelt when he got it permanently tattooed on his f ing forearm while I was still in hospital, I shit you not) but it's actually been quite handy having it spelt differently.

At nursery she had an Evelyn and Eva but no Evie's.

At her new CM there is apparently an Evie starting in a few months. She'll be curly Evie (curly hair).

All the pregnancy magazines I read while pg had a few people calling their DD Evie. I don't think it was ever top ten tho (?) and is certainly becoming less popular now Grin
