Hello I'm 40wks + 4days so excitedly awaiting the arrival of our second little one. We didn't find out baby's sex. We have a boys name picked out (Jacob) however we're struggling with a girls name? This is the list we have so far and tbh I like them all ha ha. I wondered what people's thoughts are please?

Violet
Philippa
Evelyn
Tabitha
Georgia
Eleanor

Thank you!

Clare xx

I'm not keen on violet or Evelyn personally, but they're not terrible. Of those choices, I like tabitha or philippa the best. Either sounds ok for cute little girls/high court judges, there are nice nicknames etc.

I sometimes think it's a good idea to have a short list and see which seems to suit the baby best once they arrive?

Bowlersarm · 14/04/2014 22:29

I like Philippa Tabitha and Georgia.

Have you thought about the short forms and whether you like them?

I don't like Violet or Evelyn. Eleanor has been popular for a long time and also with Elle/Ellie diminutives.

Other suggestions:

Francesca
Jemima
Alexandra
Emilia
Arabella
Annabel

I like Violet and Georgia best, they are strong names. Tabitha and Phillipha are nice names but I personally find them a bit too fussy and girly. Evelyn is pretty too, I like the nicknames even better, Evie etc.

Wishfulmakeupping · 15/04/2014 02:38

I like Georgia best too.

Bucking the trend and saying that Violet is the best. I love all V names.

Violet - like
Philippa - like (and Pip/Pippa are nice nns)
Evelyn - not keen on unisex names
Tabitha - lovely, and goes brilliantly with Jacob if complementing future siblings is a consideration.
Georgia - OK (prefer Georgina)
Eleanor - like

Love Violet from your list

outtolunchagain · 15/04/2014 07:16

My name is on that list and although as a child it was difficult for littlest to spell , it is true that it is good for grown ups and children and has lots of shortened forms , and I love it now.

My favourites are Violet and Eleanor though.

Violet - dislike. Very trendy at the mo.
Philippe - q nice.
Evelyn - great name if not shortened to the one of many billion Evie's.
Tabitha - dislike. Too little girly.
Georgia - prefer Georgina.
Eleanor - lovely, classy. Again if not shortened to Ellie or Ella.

Moonshine1 · 15/04/2014 12:33

Love Georgia and Eleanor.

squoosh · 15/04/2014 12:47

Violet - love
Philippa - strongly dislike, also Pippa has all kinds of filthy meanings in many languages
Evelyn - like but only if pronounced evva-lin
Tabitha - love
Georgia - like
Eleanor - ugh, hate this name.

hi

Love Violet and Tabitha. Think Evelyn is a little too old sounding. Georgia and Eleanor have been out for sometime. Tabitha-Violet sounds lovely. Violet is not one i have ever thought about, but now im thinking how pretty it sounds. x
