DH and I really can't agree on names for a girl. A boy will be Henry. We have an Eliza.

This is my list:

Clara
Adeline
Emmeline
Rosa
Anya
Thea
Ada
Marnie
Rosalie
Celia
Delia
Rosalind
Cordelia

DH has promised me his list later.
Any views? Favourites?

Thank you.

I like Rosalind, Thea and Clara from your list.

I also like Elsa, Gretchen, Evangeline and Rose.

MissUumellmahaye · 14/04/2014 20:12

My favourites are:

Emmeline (although I'd worry about the popularity of Emma)
Rosa
Marnie
Celia

Nunyabiz · 14/04/2014 20:13

Martorana · 14/04/2014 20:27

Henry, Eliza and Rose,
Henry, Eliza and Clare.
Henry, Eliza and Clemency.
Henry, Eliza and Jane.

magentasurprise · 14/04/2014 21:13

Eliza and Henry are both lovely but a bit 'My Fair Lady' together (not a major problem but thought I would point it out).

Your list is lovely.

Clara- v nice
Adeline- love this
Emmeline- love this too but ? two Es
Rosa- love this
Anya- okay
Thea- fine
Ada- fine
Marnie- not keen
Rosalie- v pretty

With Eliza, I particularly like: Rosa, Rosalind, Celia and Cordelia.

Viviennemary · 14/04/2014 21:16

From your list I like these best

Rosalie
Rosa
Celia
Cordelia

In that order.

Allalonenow · 14/04/2014 21:21

Adeline Celia and Cordelia are my favourites from your list.

Not at all keen on Marnie or Ada.

vehiclesandanimals · 14/04/2014 22:38

Your list is spookily similar to mine! I also have, which you don't, Caroline, Louisa, Josephine, Felicity, Serena.

I can't be any help at all, as my list just gets longer, not shorter. But I think your list is fab. I do love Anya, which I can't have as a relative has used it.

RyvitaSesame · 14/04/2014 22:40

Clara, Anya, Thea, Celia are the nicest.

Delia is lovely too actually if you can forget the lezzbeaaavin you incident.

Theas18 · 14/04/2014 22:53

Thea ;) Clara and Celia. Know girls in teens/20s with all these names .All lovely with Eliza

(Only caveat being that my friends dad could never say Clara - her dd- as he had odd weak "l"s so it was more a glottal Cara )

adaloveslace · 14/04/2014 23:19

Great list! I have a Rosa (who is very proud of her name) and currently expecting DD2, who currently looks likely to be an Eliza.

Emmeline was my frontrunner for ages and ages, but I couldn't get past the worry that she would spend her life going "no, not Emily..." "no, it's actually Emme-LEEN" etc. Rosa and Eliza are such lovely, straightforward names by comparison - our Rosa has lived in three countries without meeting any confusion over her name (or many other Rosas).

From your list, I really like Celia (though prefer Cecelia) and Ada.

I also love:
Adelaide - I loved Adeline for a bit too but ruled it out because of line/leen confusion
Francesca - can't use but love
Valentina
Florence
Juliet
Julia
Anouk

Good luck. Lots of lovely names to pick from.

manicinsomniac · 15/04/2014 10:27

Clara - lovely. Also like Cara?
Adeline - it's ok, not that keen
Emmeline - quite like it
Rosa - quite like it. Think Rosie is nicer.
Anya - love it
Thea - love it
Ada - dislike
Marnie - not keen
Rosalie - not keen
Celia - really dislike this, it sounds very dated
Delia - ditto to Celia
Rosalind - not keen
Cordelia - quite like it but very fancy. Would you shorten? Cordy??

Definitely Anya or Thea for me.

Moonshine1 · 15/04/2014 12:31

I like Rosa and Thea best from your list.

Choccyhobnob · 15/04/2014 14:33

Clara - lovely, my favourite girls name (but doesn't go with surname Sad )
Adeline - not keen
Emmeline - not keen
Rosa - like it but thinking it is too similar to your dd name with the 'za' at the end?
Anya - ok
Thea - ok
Ada - ok
Marnie - never used to like this but actually growing on me and sounds nice with Eliza.
Rosalie - not keen
Celia - reminds me of coeliac disease
Delia - Smith
Rosalind - not keen
Cordelia - not keen

Sorry that seems a bit negative doesn't it! Think we just like different types of names!

squoosh · 15/04/2014 15:07

Clara - like
Adeline - too frilly
Emmeline - too frilly
Rosa - like (always think it's a good feminist name)
Anya - nah
Thea - love!
Ada - Yes, if she's born wearing a pinny and with a fag hanging from her mouth
Marnie - love
Rosalie - too frilly
Celia - too frumpy
Delia - too linked to THAT Delia
Rosalind - too frilly
Cordelia - too frilly

pilates · 15/04/2014 16:29

Rosa and Eliza sound great, also like Henry.

ThatBloodyWoman · 15/04/2014 16:32

Emmeline and Rosa are the bestest ones imo.

BlueStarsAtNight · 16/04/2014 01:36

Clara - love it
Adeline - ok, Michelle prefer Adelaide though
Emmeline - not a fan, too close to Emily
Rosa - like, but don't think it goes with Eliza
Anya - really like
Thea - really don't like, I think it's dull sorry
Ada - ok
Marnie - quite like, think it goes best with Eliza
Rosalie - really like
Celia - quite like
Delia - smith
Rosalind - ok
Cordelia - not a fan, forever think of Buffy!

BlueStarsAtNight · 16/04/2014 01:36

*much prefer Adelaide

traininthedistance · 17/04/2014 01:31

Rosalind or Cordelia for me! Eliza and Cordelia go perfectly together.

nasara · 17/04/2014 22:53

I have an Eliza and also really like Rosa for another dd, but wasn't sure if the similar sound at the end (the -za) would be a bit clunky, as a few pp have also mentioned. What do you think, OP?
