Ellen and Joseph are both great.

Just be wary of Joseph if you don't like Joe.

I don't like Brendan or Mary.

They are all very dated IMO sorry. Ellen and Joseph are the best though.

Ellen and Joseph. Joseph has long been a fave of mine. I personally pref Ella or Elena but Ellen is lovely also

Joseph is classic and the best of the bunch IMO.

I just can't get excited enough to even choose between Ellen and Mary - sorry

I think Ellen is a bit meh and I don't like Brendan at all, sorry

Dh is very traditional and likes family names. I may go back to th drawing board.

Mary is my fave. All fine by me, Brendan would be better spelled Brandon I suspect.

If you like Ellen, have you also considered Eleanor or Eilidh?

I like Joseph, DS1 has it as his middle name. You don't see it very often.

Sorry I only like Joseph. Ellen is too heavy. So is Mary. They sound like washer women.

Agree that Joseph and Mary are not great for a sibling set, so would plump for Ellen and Joseph.

I once knew a Brendan who wasn't Irish and had no Irish connection. He said it was "as culturally bizarre as naming a white, ginger kid Mohammed" and hated it, so I'd be wary if you're not Irish/in Ireland/ in a Catholic-centric community. Plus it's just not a nice name IMO.

Joseph is very nice though.

All those girls names are horrible.
