Hi I'm expecting my fourth dc my family are Italian and my children all have Italian-ish names, so names that have Italian origins but not really unusual so they are continually mispronounced or misspelled. I think I'm very aware of this because I have a very Italian name that is quite unusual here and people always have problems with. So I need a boys name can anyone help?

Two I'm considering are Rocco and Carlo what do you think?

Riccardo could potentially shorten to Rocco?

Dumbledoresgirl · 07/04/2014 12:34

If I were married to an Italian and had 3 boys, I would name them Fabrizio (my absolute all-time favourite Italian boy's name) Giacomo and Rocco.

Sebastiano, Sebi for short?

CoteDAzur · 07/04/2014 13:01

Please don't call your boys "Sebi", any of you.

NigellasDealer · 07/04/2014 13:07

seriously cote, out of interest what is wrong with 'Sebi'?

crispyporkbelly · 07/04/2014 13:08

Diego, Dario

CoteDAzur · 07/04/2014 13:15

Aside from the fact that "sebi" would be the plural of "sebo", which is the oily stuff on your skin that oozes out of your pores.?

Well, it also sounds rather feminine.

NigellasDealer · 07/04/2014 13:18

eww that does sound nasty.
my friend's boy is called Sebi that is why i was asking Grin

amandine07 · 07/04/2014 15:25

I adore the name Luca!
Bruno is another strong name which feels Italian.

amandine07 · 07/04/2014 15:27

Ooops just seen that you have a Luca already!
How about a Raphael- Italian version is Raffaelo?

HoneyandRum · 08/04/2014 10:22

If you like Lorenzo OP a shortened version of Lorenzo is Loris, I know this because my DS age 7 best friend (age 6) is Loris - we live in Germany and he is from an Italian background. There are a lot of very famous Italian men with the name Loris (most seem to race formula one cars and bikes!).

Our local Loris is so adorable that now I love the name Smile

HoneyandRum · 08/04/2014 10:23

I also like Giulio (Julio) and Alessio. Salvador (Sal) is a great one too. Or Georgio?

HoneyandRum · 08/04/2014 10:25

Loris Malaguzzi is a famous Italian educational theorist.

icklekid · 08/04/2014 17:20
