Interested in anyone's first reaction to that name.

OP posts:

Sounds made up

AnythingNotEverything · 31/03/2014 18:03

It makes me think of food. I think alimentary means "to do with food".

It's not a name IMHO.

expatinscotland · 31/03/2014 18:04

Made up.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 31/03/2014 18:05

Never heard it before= is it Indian?

Mrswellyboot · 31/03/2014 18:06

I would prefer Alma

It's lovely. I haven't heard of Alima

picnicbasketcase · 31/03/2014 18:06

What's that thing over there with a stripy tail? A lemur!

My first thought. ^

Sparklysilversequins · 31/03/2014 18:08

No. Stop making up names OP! Wink

kmini · 31/03/2014 18:09

I know a lovely french woman called Alima. Very pretty I think

Blueberrybaby · 31/03/2014 18:10

Nice but I prefer Alina.

Fragglewump · 31/03/2014 18:12

Alma? Alamo - car rental? A Lima? Not great.

Nevertell · 31/03/2014 18:13

Arabic?

Mefisto · 31/03/2014 18:16

I know an Alima and she has an Arabic surname. I'm not overwhelmed with it as a name TBH. Makes me think of alimentary canal.

MERLYPUSS · 31/03/2014 18:22

alimony was my first thought

KateF · 31/03/2014 18:28

I don't think it's made up. I know a 13 year old Alima whose parents are from Mauritius. She does get the lemur joke sometimes though Smile

AbraStone · 31/03/2014 18:28

Ailment.

RedNosedClone · 31/03/2014 18:38

Do you mean Halima?

mrssmith79 · 31/03/2014 18:46

Nearly as bad as Daelyn.

PiratePanda · 31/03/2014 18:46

It's Arabic, and I think it's beautiful.

DiamondsAndRust · 31/03/2014 18:49

Sounds like a prescription drug to my ears. Alina would be nicer (and somehow less medicinal!)

MrsTilapia · 31/03/2014 18:50

I know someone called Alima and she's beautiful! She's not Indian or Arabic, looks like Leona Lewis and went to a Catholic school. I think it sounds like a strong and confident name, but that could be because of the association with the person I know.

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2014 18:51

A Lemur.

My first reaction was to sing the lime and the coconut song Confused sorry.

Martorana · 31/03/2014 18:57

Soulds like a slimming pill.

(Now to check what other people think!)

MagicalHamSandwich · 31/03/2014 18:59

A muslim religious scholar ... I'm reasonably certain that's what it actually means. Possibly not that great if she happens to turn out agnostic. Or simply not very academic.
